I think that whole thread was deleted, it got waaaaaay of topic, fast.

Besides, I don't know why these threads themselves are being belittled. Though they have nothing to do with detailing, they are posted(hopefully) in the "off topic" section, where members can discuss anything so long as it stays in accordance with the forum rules.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

I hear that, they don't bother me either. I feel very comfortable with my faith. I just don't think it is necessary for people to separate themselves into groups. "we are one, we're all just people". (Black Eyed Peas). LOL!

Funny you guys mention communism. I dreamed last night that I was harboring a KGB agent (unbeknownst to me) Then today I had a foriegn exchange student (Russian) rattle my door trying to sign me up to a book club

Can anyone tell me what all this means?

What amazes me the most is how some "off topic" threads... Get WAAAYYY too off topic. Hell, go to a forum on what these offtopic threads have been and see if they speak about detailing! Haha

Hmmm, maybe the true purpose of an off topic thread is to stay off topic?:laughing:

Maybe there are just too many conversations that lead it into an "off topic" status.... I think we need to start "pm"ing a bit more and hold off of the whole thread hijacking thing thing...

That being said, I apologize for this thread getting off topic...
 
I think a few people who replied in this thread need to learn what the term "Off-Topic" means.

I understand as good as anyone that this is a detailing message board. I also understand (apparently better than some) that every message board I have ever been a part of has an off-topic section. In that section, they generally never talk about that boards main topic. Hence, "Off-Topic". Just like there is an entire section of this board dedicated to using message boards - but people don't scream "this is a detailing board!!!" when something gets posted there. Come on folks - use some common sense and grow up. If you really have nothing to add to a thread - don't post. Why do you think my post count isn't higher? I skip posting in at least 90% of the threads I read. Not saying I am perfect, but a little effort can go a long ways!

I just read this thread so I know I'm kinda late, but I found the quickest way to start an argument that gets no result or understanding is to bring up politics or religion. Whatever views or opinions a person has isn't going to change because of what he or she may read on this forum concerning politics or religion. Alko, thanks for saying what needed to be said.

It's not so much religion that gets ppl fired up, its when you mention Jesus Christ that gets everyone so bent out of shape

I'm liking that Herman Cain guy for our next president :)

My religious and political beliefs are private. I don't feel compelled to shout them from the rooftop or seek others that share my views. I can't comprehend others who feel the need for proclamation, especially those dufuses who knock on my door wanting to sell me their version of The Truth.. despite my highly visible unWelcome Mat displayed specifically with them in mind.

Not sure where you were going with the first part of your post TL, but this (quoted) is spot on. If everyone would practice that little piece of sense, a lot of discussion could be headed off.

I am so glad you said this because I always hated talking about politics and religion. It always seemed to end up in an argument with no real ending. Agree to disagree type ending.

I think it’s when people from different RELIGIONS (FYI Arab is NOT a religion) get to talking. Expressing your religion is one thing, but trying to say one religion is better, or getting pissed off because the next man is follows Christianity, or Islam, or is a Witness, is ridiculous.
