This is the EXACT reason I hate pulling into shopping centers...and the exact reason why I try to park FAR away from people. I saw this when I went to grab lunch across the street. Not my car...but it pisses me off just the same!

I hate people. What is wrong with them? For some reason, nobody is ever in a hurry when they're IN the grocery store; taking their time, standing in the center of the isle, looking around aimlessly. But when they get out to their cars, they snap out of lazy mode and all of the sudden have to get home right away so they end up leaving their carts in the most obnoxious places. This is just a prime example of that.

I always push my cart to the cart corral, and 99% of the time will lock my cart into the next one and then push them all together so the next guy will think to do the same. I don't know why I bother; people don't change... :dunno:

I feel the same way at times.:applause:

You do it Mark, because it's the right thing to do. :props: to you.

Indeed. I take the time to put the cart away because I know for a fact I would be pissed if what happened in the picture happend to me. People don't have any regards to other people's property. Yes...its a car...but you know what...I've worked damn hard for my car.

Seems to me like someone is just jelous. Notice the cart is touching a benz, not a camry...

When I worked at a grocery store pushing carts, I always appreciated people like you. Thank you. I do the same now.

On an other note, I see things like this a lot, and when people ask me why I park in the way back I tell them these sorts of things. Plus, my thing about Wal Mart parking, I've seen some of the people who shop there, why would I want to park next to them?!

+1
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that actually takes the 5 seconds out of my life to push a cart back into corral.

30 carts scattered throughout the parking lot. 1 cart (mine) in the cart corral.

As much as I hate to see a stranded cart out in a parking lot, it really aggrevates me to see a stranded cart..... right next to the cart corral!! Seriously, you couldn't push it 6 more feet?

Ain't that the truth. I always put the carts in the corral, and as others have said park as far away from everyone\thing as possible.

I try to park FAR away from people.

FTL.

And park uphill from anything you can.

TL
FTW!

I know we have had a thread like this before here, and I shared a story or tow about it then, but let me elaborate.

Parking far away doesn't guarantee anything. In fact, I think it hurts your chances. My last prime example is from 2 weekends ago while at Costco I saw the wind catch a cart and ram HARD into a new Lexus sedan (black too). There was no kind of buffer between the cart (or the nearest cart rack) and the car. So if a runaway cart was going to hit anything - it only had 1 option outside of missing. Nevermind the fact if soccer mom is reaching for her cell phone while driving out of the lot and you are out where she thinks the parking lot should be clear.

What TL said is true - try to get uphill (or not downwind) of anything you can. Never park next to a cart rack, never be the first in a row, and don't park next to a car that is already on or over the lines.

Call it profiling, because it is, but I try to find a certain kind of vehicle to park beside. Also, if you are forced to park off center always park with your driver door closer to the car beside you. If you park close on the other side, and the other person beats you out, you are guaranteed that someone is opening the driver door - but you have a chance that nobody was riding shotgun. Also - 2 seater vehicles are usually safer to park beside because they have fewer doors and nobody has to try to crawl into the back seat (further opening of the doors required).

If possible however, I will park to the side of a store, next to the building. That only leaves your front or rear facing possible kamikaze carts, and choosing the right spot you can really avoid door dings pretty much. Some stores even have areas out away from all traffic, and there aren't any plausible reasons a stray cart would ever get over there - those parking places are always great.

Park responsibly. :)

LOL this is funny because it's true!! If I have two options, one being to park 12" away from a Mercedes and the other is 36" away from a beat up, rusted out pick up truck, I'll take my chances with the Mercedes. Typically speaking, the Mercedes drivers take a lot more pride not only in their own vehicles, but in other people's property as well. As for the rusted out pick up trucks, minivans, and multi colored teenage driving hoopties, you stand no chance.

Wow, you actually read that trash? :D

You prove my point beautifully.

One time pulling into a parking lot I had to stop to allow a runaway cart to go by. It ended up in the street. I've never seen one go that far or that fast without a little help.

I park where I feel is safe. The other day I parked next to a brand new Porsche because it looked to be the better option. So far I've been lucky with my new truck, no digs yet. I try to be smart about parking. My father will park in another county at the stores and still ends up with a ding or scratch.

I remember my parents had a Lincoln at one time and a guy was loading up his car and let the cart roll away. It slammed into the quarter panel. Didn't leave a dent but it scuffed the paint. You know that guy didn't even apologize or act like he cared.

Just for that, I'm gonna drive my Windstar to your house park within an inch of your car.:D

Have to love the disrespect people have for others property. I do the same and park away from everyone. Even still there is always one jerk that has to park right next to me even of there are 50 open spots.

Parking lots PERIOD make me nervous, have a nice ding to support my hatred!!..... Another story to lighten the thread.. I got into my truck at the grocery store last year and

someone had "left " their cart on my front bumper. I didnt notice the cart since I sit a little higher in truck. When I pulled forward the cart sprung out from under my front

bumper and launched a good twenty feet before landing. The funny thing was there was a guy sitting in his car in the next row. You should of seen his eyes. The cart did'nt hit anything. Thank God

I think Wal*Mart is the worst with this kinda stuff....I'll park waaaaaaaaaaaaay over ----------------------------------------> here

away from everyone and I always find a big dressed-out and chromed-up truck or suv parked so close that opening the door becomes a problem...
