Habanero Hot Sauce Heaven - From Belize!

Wow!

My friend Sergio, whom I met at our last two Detailing Classes is from Belize and during the "Meet & Greet" at the Marriott after Saturday's class during our conversations we found out we both like really hot hot sauces!

Today a box showed up on my desk and after opening it I was in Hot Sauce Heaven , Belize style!

Sergio you truly out did yourself and I appreciate you kindness... I'm leaving work in a few minutes and will be testing out at least one of the hot sauces tonight on something at my favorite restaurant here in Stuart, Santa Fe, a local Mexican Restaurant.

Check this out...

So that's how you bake the finish? :D

Habanero is some serious stuff. I recall going to the Yucatan as a teenager and eating some panuchos (tostadas) with habanero. They were soooo good but I was sweating by the second one but couldn't stop eating and had two or three more. So good but so painful.

I've decided the detailing community is the most giving community there is.

I have had the Belizean Heat. That is some fantastic hot sauce. Very hot, but still has excellent flavor...it isn't just burning tongue. Tried it at a Belizean Restaurant on the south side of Chicago that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives called Garifuna Flava. If you live in or are visiting the area it is a must stop if you like Caribbean food. The jerk chicken was the best I have ever had. Neighborhood isn't the best, but that shouldn't be a deterrent!

I love hot stuff too Mike. A friend at work offered me some hot sauce and told me to only use a drop or two... I put some on my lunch and my mouth burned the rest of the day. The bottle said it would strip flooring, I might test that out

I knew we had something else in common, Mike. I am a hot sauce junkie! The hotter the better!

Mr. Phillips,

I hope you don't mind me sharing this. I love hot stuff too.

Several years ago I raised about 20 habanero plants in my garden. I love hot hot peppers myself, but I had no idea each plant would bare 100's of those scorching hot orange peppers. I gave as many away as I could and used the rest.

One afternoon I was trying to track down a local friend, and pepper guru, to give him some of my super hots that I'd raised. I found him eating lunch at the local Subway, so I went in with peppers in hand.

As I sat down a big smile came over his face and he said, "You brought me some of those peppers didn't you?" I smiled back and said, "Yep, I sure did." I explained a weird phenominon to him that some of the peppers were actually sweet in flavor, which had thrown me for a loop as I couldn't figure out why. Usually, the hot peppers ruin the sweet peppers, causing them to be bitter and hot in their own right.

As he unfolded the paper towel from around the peppers he said, "You know, maybe I ought to go up and get me a pint of milk." Milk, especially sweet milk, has a nice cooling effect after eating something hot. He paid for the milk, sat back down, and grabbed another bite of his sandwich and grabbed a pepper. As he bit into the first orange pepper (they're usually the hottest in this ripe stage) he grinned a bit and said, "You're right, that one does have a sweet flavor." I took a bite of it myself, and sure enough is was like eating one of those sweet orange bell peppers that are great for grilling, stuffing, and veggie trays.

I don't know what he was thinking, but I guess he forgot during conversation (because of the first pepper) the peppers were supposed to be hot. He didn't know I had already eaten some barn burners that would make you sweat blood.

Finally, after talking a bit, he grabbed another pepper ( a green one this time) and threw the whole thing in his mouth with a bite of sandwich. I saw his face get red and a sturn look came over his face. In a real short and deep tone he said, "Ya know, maybe I ought to open that milk." He opened the milk and drank it straight down, then held the carton in his hand staring at it as if he was reading something. He said, "Ya know, according to the date on the top of this carton this milk is five days old"...as he muttled up his face after passing the carton under his nose. He said, "Damn Bill I just drank clabbered milk...that's one hot friggin' pepper."

We have laughed for years about that and I never will forget that look on his face. I hope through my words you could envision it. We both share the story quite often. It was hilarious. The workers in the Subway were in tears, and I dang near fell in the floor I laughed so hard.

Haha I can totally picture what went down. Great story! I love me some hot sauce but I usually end up crying or throwing up and lemme tell you it hurts worse coming back up. Thanks for sharing. Thats super xol someone sent that stuff to mike. Got to love the ag community!

Looks like a great pack of hot sauces.

I also love Habaneros.

For the Bloody Mary lovin' crowd... I use a mix called Habanero Bloody Mary from Hell. Like it's name suggests, its made from habaneros. While it is not as hot as it sounds, it is a little too hot for me straight out of the bottle so I cut it with regular tomato juice but the great habanero citrus like character and fire makes it my all time favorite Bloody Mary mixer.

FWIW, I find that drinking a spicy HOT Bloody Mary in the summer actually cools you down. If it is hot enough, it will make you sweat profusely and thus evaporation takes your temp down. Seriously, it works.:props:

Got out of here too late to get any dinner... will have to wait till Saturday night now as my schedule is too full till after Friday as we're shooting video all day Thursday and Friday.

I actually like to make my own with secret ingredients, if fact I promised myself that I would bring my own hot sauce out after I finished my first how-to book a few years ago... guess I overcame that obstacle...

First detailing e-book finished

most layman dont know that bloody marys are a requirement at a sunday car show. isnt that why detroit built trunks and tailgates?

Love Hot Sauce , i was at a tacoria on day when i was still in high school. They had a number of super sauces to try. Well being young and stupid, i tried the hottest first. It was Daves Insanity Sauce, one drop is good enough for a whole gallon of spicy chille. I being stupid took a big swig of it. It literally knocked my off my feet. The next thing i know i am on the floor. Best sauce ever IMO:dblthumb2:

Hey Mike, if you're ever near a restaurant called Nandos Peri Peri, stop in...you won't be disappointed.

I love hot stuff. My friend come back from Belize withthe same stuff just this past winter but I am a chicken to even try it. Because he told me it was hot. Maybe some day I will but when I am done I will always remember the story an old guy told me once. When you eat hot wings always go out for ice cream after wards so when you are on the tiolet you can scream come on ice cream. Im the MAN

Sorry for the late reply, been busy with my real job...

Love that pic

Thanks again Sergio and let's organize a Autogeek Roadshow Class in Belize!

My pleasure Mike! That sounds like a lot of work when you could just run a forum from a hammock or the beach bar ;)

Don't just limit it to Mexican food, throw it on everything!
I love it on hamburgers, pizza, you name it...

I have had the Belizean Heat. That is some fantastic hot sauce. Very hot, but still has excellent flavor...it isn't just burning tongue.

That's what I love about this line Tomcat, it's hot but not paint stripping hot, and it packs great flavor- I wanna enjoy it- the Belizean Heat is my favorite one, with the gold label a close 2nd, but won't turn down any:D

BTW those aren't re-labeled, they each have they're own distinctive taste and heat level
