Tuscarora Dave's miscellaneous stuff thread.

Maybe a month ago I did a semi paint correction on a co worker's black Yukon. Here's the thread. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ck-gmc-yukon-denali-paint-semi-corrected.html He was and still is very happy with his Yukon and is taking real good care of my work. For some reason though, his wife decided to take the less expensive route and took her black Scion to a local detailer in Harrisburg (a city real close to me) and have the $135 full detail. She learned the hard way what a cheap detail can look like. I offered to fix it for her at a deeply reduced rate as to take some of the sting out of the whole deal for her. They will be bringing it to me already washed this coming Saturday. Here is what the cheap detailer did to her car.

I got a call from a lady today who has a "good for one full detail-$300 value" voucher that I gave to a girl to sell at her silent auction fund raiser about a year and a half ago. I am glad to do the volunteer work but I thought that thing got destroyed or lost by now. At least it's not another black car to detail.

That's pretty funny Dave. I guess next time put an expiration date on it. Another kind deed by you though, to give that coupon away.

Well, today is the first day of my new shift at my day job. I am going from 6:30am to 3:00pm To 11:00am to 7:30pm. In case anyone was wondering why I was posting at this time in the morning. You'll be seeing more posting from me between 8 and 10am. Feels kind of like a day off from work. Too bad it's not though.

Pretty much shoots the bulk of the day. Good news is no alarm clock! :applause:
Day 7 of TL's retirement adventure. I wake up when my eyes open, the way it oughta be. I fulfiled a promise I made to myself decades ago by smashing my alarm clock into oblivion with a sledgehammer on Day 1. Im the MAN

If I'm ever King one of my first decrees will be to outlaw alarm clocks! I'll get on that right after I'm finished with the executions...

I spent yesterday afternoon over at Barry Theal's shop. We talked for about 4 hours or so while he corrected the paint on a motorcycle. Barry is a really nice guy with a very nice detailing operation. He sent me home with some detailing products to check out so today I played around a bit on a friend's old BMW. It was only after I did the 50/50 on the hood that I told him that he'd have to drive it around like that until next weekend. :coolgleam: Here's the 50/50.

Unbelievable, Dave. All you need is your info on the hood and you got the best traveling advertisement I have ever seen!

You should get stencils and buff your company' info on the doors. :)

Good advertising. :xyxthumbs:

Reminds me of KC's "two-faced" car, ran tape right down the middle and corrected and detailed one side only, inside and out. Don't suppose the customer with the red/pink BMW would go for that for a year or so though, huh? :D

I just worked with PO85RD for the first time today. Nice Stuff It did a nice job glossing up my Buick in preparation for a coat of Opti Coat 2.0 that will be applied after I get the sides of the car polished up. Here's the hood as I walked back in the house for the evening.

I just spoke to a customer/friend who lives up in Maine. He'll be driving his Tuxedo Black 2011 Ford F-350 down here to get a polish and coat of Opti-Coat. Gonna be a fun visit.

I was messing with Jack getting a few pictures and thought i would share 2 of them. This one is so cute.

I couldn't find her anywhere and then....I guess she just wasn't in the mood to be bothered.

Well everyone, I'm gonna push away from the keyboard and go to a really nice Christmas Eve gathering. A Very Merry Christmas and or Happy Holidays to all of you!!

"I think I have had enough black paint for a while."

I feel like that some days too. I swear I don't see that many of them on the road but I see 5x as many in the shop.

I just got the new garage policy and the keys to my new shop!! I'm so fricking excited!!! I think of all the times I wanted to give my own car or van a little attention and it would start raining just about every time. Well now, let it rain!! I'll still be able to work on my stuff! Not to mention all the missed work because of having to schedule the work around rain because of being limited to a mobile only service.

I am well rested and feel really good both physically and mentally. Just a few months ago I was so whooped that I had to give up for a little while. Well nappy nap time is over for Tuscarora Dave. Back to 2 full time jobs but at least I'll have a place where Jack can hang out with me while I work. She loves hanging with her Daddy more than anything in the whole wide world!!

A guy stopped into the shop yesterday with an 89 Honda Accord for me to look at. It seems that his neighbor had 5 fainting goats get out of their pen. They took a walk over to this dude's house and for some reason they must have been intrigued by this red Honda Accord. All 5 goats climbed up onto the car and walked all over it. From the looks of the paint on the side of the car, it must have taken them several tries to get up onto the car. We did a test section (the hood) and he was amazed at the fact that it cleaned up the way it did. He agreed to my price and is bringing the car back to drop it off this evening to have the rest of it corrected. This was by far the most unusual request that I have seen regarding paint correction. I will be posting a thread on this car in a few days for sure.

Hahh! Geeez--Goats! And I thought I had it bad with the occasional cat trying to get on the car.
