Tuscarora Dave's miscellaneous stuff thread.

Well, I went over to TuscaroaDave's today and we had a great day. I learned at least, if not more, a years worth of information from him. He is a great and kind man with lots of knowledge to share if he has the time. He let me use his machines so now I feel comfortable getting my own to tackle our families cars.

I brought him a bit of a challenge with my hood today and it took us, by us I mean him, a few hours to figure out the best way to tackle to issue. We, again he, determined that it seems that my hood had a crap ton of oxidation on the clear coat for some reason. We cleaned and clayed the hood with red clay to set up our palate.

After using a DA, a Flex and then his big Makita with a wool pad and several rounds of Meg's 105 and 205 we dented the oxidation. After some brain storming he decided to go with a foam pad on the Makita with his "rocks in a bottle." That was the ticket.

After throwing the big boy and foam pad with rocks at it we, he got off the oxidation. After that was taken care of I took the Meg's 205 with a DA and went to town polishing out what the "rocks" left behind. We then gave the car a wash and polished her up again with the Makita and then he let me use the Flex. I don't remember the last product that we used even though he said it several times. It was something 501 I believe and it was blue.

I must say I would love to have a Flex, but the budget is more of a GG DA budget for now. I have considered the HF DA, which I got to use with Dave, but I like the warranty of the GG DA. Thank you to everyone that pointed me to Dave.

Dave I can't thank you enough for sharing your time and knowledge with me today. Thanks again sir.

I have included some before and after photos of the hood. What a major difference that was made today.

I had a nice time as well Mike.

It was very nice having you over to my shop. It was nice to have a challenge to work out on the paint correction front as well.

Compounding and polishing paint is very therapeutic to me. Lately my head has been full of all sorts of racing thoughts due to the death of my boy "Colt the Bolt" (see avitar photo) so an all out war against some pretty tough paint oxidation, some teaching and just having a really nice guy over to the shop, helps me purge some of the stinking thinking that's been going on lately.

The Reuben sandwich at the end of the tunnel didn't hurt either. Thanks again for the dinner, it was nice to sit and break bread together and just talk for a little. Don't forget about me when you throw that brisket over the coals at your church function. Tuscarora Dave and brisket go well together!!

Thanks for posting up the photos and sharing your experience of how things went during your visit to my shop yesterday. TD

He was a beautiful one! I am a dog guy,we have 3. It is a hard thing to get over, had 2 dogs 16 & 15, m& f who were together for over 14 years. They decided to die together on the same day. Something that I'll never get over ,those 2 had true love for other.

Man that's sad. Thank you. Colt was beautiful in more ways than one.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Dave, I'm so sorry to hear about "Colt the Bolt." I really enjoyed meeting him earlier this summer. He was a special little pup.

I'm not gonna lie to you,a year and a half later and it still hurts,I started crying when I wrote about it. He will always live in your heart! You made him just as happy as he made you! I still dream about those 2,they weren't the first 2 I ever lost, but they touched me the most

I knew someone would post, "Rainbow Bridge." I knew I would read it...and now my monitor screen is all blurry.

sorry about the puppy, Dave!! The rainbow bridge poem is awesome, had it engraved on the top of my puppy urn/box.

Hi Dave,

Dogs are like children and find a place in our hearts. We treat them as much more then an animal and when we lose them it's very painful. Over the years I've lost 2 to cars and it's heart wrenching to say the least...

Sorry for your loss Dave....

Thanks guys. I've read rainbow bridge before, couldn't read it this morning, just thinking about it my monitor is all blurry. I couldn't read it this morning but I choose to believe it exists.
