Review: CarPro PERL

Thank you for this review. Because of this, I purchased the liter of PERL! You should get commission ;)

And I would like you to know that I went through all 10 pages of this thread and read the entire thing... sure it took about an hour, but it was worth it. Thanks for all the updates!

I just checked the price of Dlux, its expensive when compared to Perl, will stick to Perl as of now. The rains are almost done, and its a good 1 year before its back in full fury so I guess PERL should manage till then.

How long does PERL last on tires, if Dlux is good for 2 months plus ?

Yup, some very nice results using the BF combo. Its still not as good as i'd like it, for that I'll need to get a Flex soon :D

If the mods don't mind, i'll post a pic here:

Take a look back at the updates for how it lasts on tires in different variables. Rainy it doesn't last more than two weeks. It's still there as you'll see but just as other tire dressings do the look fades depending on how much rain you get and if you drive in it. The product still protects and you'll see it's there but the rain will give the look a hit after a week or so. Without rain (for instance on my sky) the look lasts for a month easily.

Dlux lasts much longer than two months. After more than 3 months in Florida and a ton of rain and sun outside 24/7 it looks like the day applied. I hope to report the same after a full year :)

Great review! I am looking into PERL, so this was really helpful. Thanks!

Thank you! Feel free to give me a call anytime if you have any questions and I dont see it here and answer in a timely enough manner.

Great review Corey. I have been tossing the idea of trying UTTG but will probably just stick to PERL now for trim, tires and engine bays.

One thing I do is put the PERL in a air operated paint sprayer. I like this because I can dial in the width and amount being sprayed. It works great on engine areas to get into all the nooks and crannies of things like the air cleaner gussets.

Awesome Kevin! Great tips and info! Thank you for sharing it!

That means a lot! Thank you :buffing: Well, I don't get any commission unfortunately (lol) but long after this review CarPro did work with me to open my own store where I have the opportunity to sell one of my favorite lines. Thank you CarPro!

I also read through this whole review and picked up a bottle of PERL. I was planning to use it on my interior as a budget alternative to UIGP. Diluted, it'll be a tiny fraction of the cost and hopefully satisfy!

Thank you! They are both excellent products! And both will indeed satisfy :)

Is anyone using Reload to maintain PERL or DLUX on trim? Should work right? Maybe the faded look would stay away longer if you tried to 'lock in' the fresh look with Reload.

CEE DOG,

I did a quick interior coating of PERL yesterday and it was a liiiiiiiittle bit greasy after a couple hours. Is that simply a lack of proper wipe-off? I suspect I applied it pretty liberally but the look of the surfaces after a quick, relatively "dry" wipe didn't yield an even appearance so I laid it on pretty heavy to get an even darkness and then moved on.

I noticed it dried in sections, somewhat blotchy.

It feels OK now, a day later, but it's still MAYBE has a touch of residue if I drag my finger across some surfaces. If that feeling remains for today, I'll probably go over everything with a clean MF to de-goo it.

ALWAYS, do a wipe down after PERL. I have learned this lesson the hard way. It is a great product but tends to stay greasy after application unless you do a wipedown after its been applied and has sat for at least 30 minutes.

ahhhhhhh OK. so the seats are going to be fine because I did a denim and jersey wipedown with my back and butt...

I will grab my cloth and do that. I also applied with a microfiber and it was OK but there's a lot of drag so it kept unfolding out from under my hand. The spray-on method was too hard to control with the sprayer I used. I may try a foam applicator or a terrycloth applicator sponge.

Thanks for the feedback, What dilution did you use? Depending on all the many factors including environment, surface, applicator, preference user, you may like it at a different dilution. You can dilute a bit of it further and try it that way also.

OTGT is right on about wiping it after application.

Using a MF applicator or towel is usually the way I go and then I immediately buff with MF afterwards to remove any excess.

Just ordered the PERL off the BOGO and the free shipping! Can't beat that. Can't wait to try and restore by black trim and tires.

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love PERL for interior uses (and I will continue to use in this capacity).

Unfortunately, I have been disappointed by its durability on exterior trim. Given, I have a DD that sits un-garaged 24/7/365 - my experiences have led me to believe PERL's exterior longevity to be somewhere in the 2 - 3 week ballpark. (yes, I have used numerous dilution ratios and my trim is always prepped - including IPA wipedowns).

Anyone else have this issue?

Awesome review! I was reading on other threads that PERL is hard to remove from glass? Is this true? The guy said he uses an assortment of chemicals and had to resort to a razor blade to get it all off. It makes me weary to use it on my interior or touch my paint. Anyone else have problems like this?

Besides that it looks like it has everything I want in a product. I would love the darkening effect it has. Hopefully someone has an answer otherwise I'll just use it on my tires or something.

I'm that guy. Just spray it on an applicator away from the car and you'll be ok.

Thanks for the response! :xyxthumbs:

What about interiors especially the dash? After reading your post I would be afraid of it getting near my windshield even with an applicator. If some accidently got on the windshield the haziness would drive me nuts haha. I don't think I'm as brave as you to take a razorblade to my windshield either.

I was also interested if other people notice this problem as well. Maybe not just on glass but maybe paintwork as well?

Yeah I'm not sure what others experience. I just had the same issue on two vehicles. The dash looks great but the window, especially around the bottom edge, got a lot on it when I sprayed it.

I wasn't afraid of the razor blade because here in VA we have stickers stuck on the inside of the window and random inspection techs take them off with razor blades every year.

I know someone from CarPro posts here occasionally. Maybe find their username and send them a message to come respond to my thread?

Matt

Hi
you can spray it on short loops MF and wipe on the dash, no need to spray directly.
even if you spray directly , and it has dots on the glass, wile its fresh you can wipe them off, APC will remove it quite easy.

Thats an odd one. Ive never heard of an issue like that with Perl. Avi covered you on the tips of application and dont worry.... Its easy to use and easy to remove from glass. Leaving it on glass is just a misuse but still removable with apc. If anyone ever needs fast assistance with a carpro question I represent them in the US and will be happy to help you anytime. Call, email, or post over on our carpro us forum anytime.

Awesome! Thanks Avi and Cee Dog! I just ordered some thanks to AG's end of year sale. Look forward to trying it out.

This may have been asked but im looking for a trim dressing that wont run. How does Perl hold up to rain? If it rains will it run down the side of my black truck after applied to my trim?
