I think I've got a plan... Adjustments? Technique?

Re: Want to place order ... Can't decide ... Ugh

Is the finishing compound with the MF DA system no good? I'm now recalling that you're not the first to suggest the D300 and cutting pads followed by a different polish/seal/wax. Is it really that advantageous to use the MF DA cutting system, as opposed to M105 (or equivalent), etc with HT pads?
I think most here think they get a little better finish with a dedicated polish over the D301. One other factor is if you use a polish rather than the finish wax your paint is clean and ready for a wax or sealant of your choice, with the finish wax you have a wax/ sealant hybrid on the paint so you should let it cure before topping. Personally I don't see much difference, if you are doing show cars yes but for daily drivers no.
One resin I suggested the DP Poli coat above is it has mild cleaners/bonding agents that will help it stick even after the D301. You would then wait 12 hours for the DPPC to Cure then top with the 845 and you will have a great protected car ready for the elements. You can even skip the DPPC step, 845 is an awesome product as a stand alone. If I were going straight 845 on top of D301 I'd let the 301 cure over night to be sure I was getting maximum bonding of the 845,

Thanks once again. To be honest, I don't remember why I'm stuck on the Poli Seal step. lol It was a suggestion from back in my first thread, to go along with the 105/205 combo and for some reason I've just kept it on my list. I see what you're saying about it possibly being a little redundant though.
So, after much consideration I'm thinking that I'm going to go with the Meg's 5" MF DA starter kit, along with 845. I may throw a sealant in there too, but we'll see. I'll get 2 crimson HT pads for the wax (and possible sealant), and some extra MF pads too. In deciding how many extra MF pads to get, do I really need 3 or 4 of each? I'll be cleaning them frequently with compressed air, so are multiple pads still required for one vehicle? Also on that note, would it be wise to get the smaller pads as well as the 5" pads, or will the 5" (5.5") do the job?

Aside from that, I need to work on the odds and ends that I'll need. Clay, detailing spray, MF towels, Rinseless wash, etc ... Man, I hope this 20% off sale doesn't get followed up by a better one anytime over the winter. lol

Sounds good!

I wouldn't worry about a better deal, the 20% off and free shipping doesn't get any better. You might find a better deal on the VIP deal or some sort of special deal but for an across the board deal this is it. Sometimes they will put polishers on sale but thats rare. So don't hold back!

I do have some 4" pads and use them for the smaller areas but you can always order them on you next order ....... and trust be there will be many more!

Don't forget to add your free sample to you order.:dblthumb2:

Good Luck!

Hey Yale, just a thought here, while I'm loading up my cart. Would the DPPC step be kind of counterproductive to the MF DA finishing wax? I'm just wondering if I misunderstood you in thinking that you suggested DPPC for a 3rd step, after the MF DA finishing wax. Was your intent for the DPPC to replace the finishing wax?

Also - you're thoughts on pad numbers? If I had to choose, should I get extra 5" pads, or a set of 3" pads? Is it naive of me to think that 2 of each pad would get me through a vehicle, considering I'll be cleaning on-the-fly with compressed air (and maybe a toothbrush)?

Thanks so much... you're a ton of help.

What I meant was to use it in place of the Poli seal not in place of the finsih wax on the MF system. Rethinking it I'd just go with 845 after the finish wax. You won't want to skip the finish wax step because it is a mild polish and gives you a much better finish and removes light marring that could be caused from the compound. There will be lots of time down the road to try some different sealants and waxes.

I'd deffinetly get extra of the 5.5" compounding pads and finishing pads.(2 each on top of the ones you get with the starter) It usually takes me about 3 of each to do an average car. You will make mistakes and maybe use to much polish so you'll need to change out to have a clean fresh pad. You only need a couple each of the smaller ones.

One thing I thought of you should get is some microfiber cleaner for washing your pads and towels
DP Microfiber Cleaner concentrated microfiber detergent and degreaser I put some in a spray bottle and spray the MF pads after use then wash them when I'm all done.

If I were to choose I'd choose more 5" pads over having small pads. You can add smaller pads and a backing plate later.

You can even just get one crimson ht 5" pad for application of the 845, you won't need any more of those unless you get a different sealant too. At this point I'd lean to getting more pads over adding a buch of different sealants for sure. The 845 is durable and looks very good. IMHO it is the best bang for the buck LSP out there. Just remember apply very thin.

I have read some are using the pinnacle bug sponge to clean the MF pads instead of a brush ..... Haven't tried it tho.
Don't forget to add your free sample to your order.

If there is something you want to try and I have it pm me you address and I'll send you a sample to try!
Don't let this sale slip by .... Don't forget tomorrow is BOGO day so check to see what's new there once it changes. Go see what there now so you can tell when it's new. ~~ Yale
