Im looking to buy a DA buy end of the day and narrow it down to these too. Quick background, new to polishers. Read the how-to on polishers. Plan on using WG products since its on sale and fall20 savings. I hear both are fool proof. I have read and like the fact that Griots DA is lifetime warranty, customer service is awesome, and more power. Im a little confused though on backing plate and like to know a good brand to buy that won't die on me i.e. break. PC has been around and seems to be the choice among you guys, the pros. i hear now and then parts break or counter weight has some issues. I plan on buying cobra foam pads as well. Any advice or anything else to consider before buying and after buying one of these fine machines? :buffing:

What turned you off on the Meguiars one? Just curious. I too, am trying to decide which one to get. I like the fact that the Griots has a 7amp motor compared to PC's 4.5 amp.

the only thing i didn't like is that Megs seem to have a different system. Its not a hook and loop system like the others so you seem to need different pads that only Megs sell. Yes the motor is a key player too.

I'm not sure about that???

Anyway I like 'em all but (at this point) if I could only choose one...Hmmmm

I feel the Griots 6" machine cuts swirls better
I believe the PC is able to leave a nicer finish

Are you going to do heavy work? then it's the GG 6"
Are you going to do "jeweling" then I feel it's the PC

(OK, I know it's down to two...both are good)

You can not make a bad choice between those two machines.

working on my personal vehicles, 2 trucks 2 1/2 cars. as far as swirls have them on trucks. To jewel will a good foam pad work?

Thanks Zedhead07 Im thinking Griot as well. hoping more members will put there inputs as well.

I have all three brands (griots,PC and Megs) of DA machines and the bp's will interchange to any of the three. Megs recommends when using their microfiber pads that you use the bp with the matching velcro. Most of the vendors carry multiple choices of bp's that will work with a variety of pads. As far as making a decision on which machine to purchase, the lifetime warranty of Griots and available power sway a lot members, with the new megs machine coming in a close second IMO.

Never used the Meguires DA but have the GG6 and PCXP and would hands down pick the GG6. it's just capable of more. If you ever want to run 6" pads you can with ease but on the PC you would be pressed to get much done IMO. I vote GG6

Another vote for the Griot's. The lifetime warranty is unbeatable. If you dont think you need it, look up the two recent posts where the supposedly bullet-proof Porter Cable failed. Also, the Griots extra power is a big bonus.

The Meguiars Dual Action 6 Inch Polisher G110v2 has been on back order; its not available even on the Meguiars Website. I read that Meguiars noticed quality problems with the DA and pulled it from selling. Its supose to be on permanent back order until the quality problems are resolved.

I have read nothing but great reviews on their Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System.

Good luck :xyxthumbs:

I have both although the PC is an older model. If I could keep only one it would be the Griot's machine.

Well said, totally agree and the warranty makes it a no brainer!AG replaced my GG after 14 months. I would have been out of luck with a PC!

Sent you a PM CAMAROZL1.

With the Flex 4" BP coming out,I'm getting rid of my GG6"(HD) that was used only 2x's to spread some wax.
BTW,it's also the "New Improved" version.

thanks guys for all information. Im going to buy a GG. IID got your message and see why your selling it. sent you a message as well hope to talk to soon. Again Im glad to be part of a site where so many guys share the experience and willing to teach and show the hard work.

Griots 6" DA

Polishing
Meguiars 5" DA Microfiber kit (kit includes 5" Backing Plate)
Lake Country 5 1/2 Inch Flat Pads 6 Pack (use with KBM)
2) Orange (for M105) 2) White (for M205) 1) Black 1) Blue
Meguiars Mirror Glaze #105 Ultra-Cut Compound 8 oz
Meguiars Mirror Glaze #205 Ultra Finishing Polish 8 oz

Optional "jeweling" step
Menzerna Finish Polish PO85RD Use with black pad

Sealant (Last Step Product - LSP)

BFWD can be easily applied by hand but I like using a DA on slow
Use BFWD with Blue pad - BFWD does not clean out of the pad

Looks Good!
Don't forget clay and a clay lube. you can get DP rinseless wash and gloss and mix it for a clay lube, a rinseless wash and a QD. DP Rinseless Wash & Gloss, no rinse car wash, concentrated no rinse wash, quick detail spray, waterless wash & some good microfiber cloths. I like these for buffing Super Soft Deluxe Blue Microfiber Towels, microfiber detailing towels, buffing towels, micro fiber towel, detail cloth or Super Soft Deluxe Green Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edges, microfiber buffing towels, micro fiber and I like these for wax & sealaant removal Meguiars Professional Ultimate Wipe® Detailing Cloth, Microfiber detailing towel, meguires ultimate wipe

Did anyone mention 2-3 grit guards and a GOOD wash mitt?

I got the Griot's and is very pleased with what it can do.

A DA polisher coupled with the Megs 5" DA MF correction kit is a perfect combination. Have a few foam finishing pads for paints that don't take too kindly to the MF finishing discs, and on occasions where you are just wanting to apply a stand alone sealant or wax.

I have the PC and there is nothing I can't do with it. From heavy compounding to applying wax. DA polishers are really coming into thier own thanks to the new MF correction system. Soon optimum will be releasing MF polishing pads and who knows where that will lead.
