Occupy Wall Street

Until the politicians that represent us actually live like us and deal with the same challenges, there can never be a true representation of the people. A fundamental change is needed and govt needs to remove its pensions, healthcare, and benefits for which the common US worker no longer receives either !

:iagree: and :iagree: btw, those pensions, healthcare and benifits are funded by the taxes YOU and I pay. I love the fact that my 54 year old neighbor is RETIRED (from the Federal Government), gets a guareenteed pension of 84K/year (with 2% annual increases), and health insurance. The government should take care of its citizens like it takes care of it government employees!

LoL that was funny. This should be a requirement!

That really caught me off gaurd to :) and I agree, if you can't run a rotary, you shouldn't be allowed in office. This is a great first step to recovery

Glenn beck said they "will kill everybody" ...they will drag you out of your home, steal everything you have, and kill you. Cantor called them nothing more than a mob. These same people who loved the tea bagger rallies... now call these folks nothing more than a mob.

Fox news isn't giving these folks any credence because protesting again the rich and powerful is of course....immoral in their eyes.

Glenn Beck claims to be a recovering alcoholic? He still acts like he's drunk IMO

I had seen this on the news, but I just heard today that a bunch of people at my college are going to be doing this during our homecoming parade Saturday morning.

Are you going to join in Kaleb?

Here in Mphs, we have ppl retiring from gov't @ 42 and drawing 90% for life. To make matters worse, they start a new carrer in a different form of gov't and continue to draw their full pensions. Do I blame them? No

Capitalism does not guarantee a middle class, a living wage, etc.

What is Capitalism anyway?

Sure seems since 2008 everything has taken a turn for the worse. All I read is that major corporations profits are through the roof, but they continue to layoff ppl. I don't understand this. Seems they are trying to make everyone poor. No more middle class

On the other hand, what are the rich suppose to do, give all their money to the poor?

This has been in the plan for quite some time. In order to have a true global economy everyone needs to be pretty much on the same playing field financially.

The US and Europe have been outpacing all the other countries and this needed to stop in order for the global economy to ignite then spread.

Moving everything out of the US to China and many other countries had virtually eliminated the prospering American Middle Class turning it into the haves and have not.

America and Europe have been decline for over 20 years and NAFTA was the final nail in the American Middle Classes coffin, the death of America. The American workers income is in decline and the availability of good paying jobs for blue collar workers is an oxymoron.

America's government is a global joke and nothing more than a country club for the rich and shameless. The world laughed at us because we couldn't vote on increasing the debt limit....I was so embarrassed to be an American.

When 51% of the votes come from people employed by or supported by the government you no longer have a democracy...

Taxation without representation; isn't that way we left England in the first place..

At least he accomplished something while in office. I'm down to 87 cents :)

HAHHAHAHHAAA, LMAO!!!

An economic system based on a free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Capitalism encourages private investment and business, compared to a government-controlled economy. Investors in these private companies (i.e. shareholders) also own the firms and are known as capitalists.

There is nothing that say you cannot exploit people to achieve profits. A modern example is migrant farm workers.

I don't remember anyone telling me that the government is supposed to give me everything I want. If you want a fed job then go get one, if you want better benefits then go get a job that offers them. I have worked a ton of low paying no benefits jobs and I didn't expect the government to support me or give me toys that I wanted. I kept looking for a better job as I was working my job so I could pay my bills and eat. Eventually I got a job that has benefits and decent pay and I didn't get it until I was 33.Want that federal government job? Then go get it. As far as the fed I agree that those dimbulbs in DC should have term limits and when those limits are up they get no more golden benefits because then we will see how bad they want to serve their constituents. As far as Wallstreet is concerned those are privately held companies that don't guarntee you squat when you invest in them.

You should run for office BobbyG :dblthumb2:

Seems we've become a weak minded nation. Always concerned about how we appear to others and afraid to express ourselves

Kinda reminds me of how some ppl act on the forums :)

:iagree: with what this stands for. If you don't like the way your being treated, then change the situation yourself

Sounds allot like socialism if you ask me....:(

That's because neither he nor I are politically correct...

Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren started a tiff during a Tuesday night debate when she said she “kept her clothes on” when she was in college. Republican Senator Scott Brown, whom Warren hopes to replace, famously posed semi-nude in Cosmopolitan magazine while he was a law student.

Responding Thursday on WZLX radio, Senator Brown said, “Thank God.” :)

Now Nancy Pelosi is demanding an apology!!

American politics at its finest, again our representatives...

That's how I was brought up

Reminds me of a great country song quote

"nobody owes ya nothing supposed to earn your keep"

How do you purpose we turn this situation around?

I wish I knew. Politicians don't really understand the market, they're lawyers, not bankers.

The economy is in a vicious cycle and Bankers and Politicians are not the only ones to blame for the economy's current condition. Nobody forced home buyers to grossly overpay for homes by getting into bidding wars with other buyers. People stopped reasoning and who could blame them when money was raining from the sky. Maybe 4 or 5 years ago, my dad put his home for sale. Within days, he had 3 offers, each over five hundred thousand dollars. His home is currently valued at about half that today. What were people thinking?

As long as I don't have to see that windbag Nancy Polosi nude, I think I'll be able to survive :)
