my 2 cents would go over well right now but i don't have them anymore:cry:
All i can add now is that while i support people demonstrating about ideas they believe in. This protest movement just does not have a cohesive message. I also think that protesters should be considerate of the people who are living and working in their area and be courteous and clean up after themselves and not disrupt the businesses around them. All for calling for change just decide what change you want.

According to CNN Money, Buffets federal tax bill for 2010 was almost $7,000,000. He may pay a smaller percentage than his secretary. But that's because a lot of his income is capital gains which are taxed at a different rate than regular income. Don't forget there is risk in investing, and the money invested was already taxed when it was originally earned. Also his philanthropic activities reduce his tax bill.

Then there is this Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway Owes Back Taxes | TheBlaze.com

I realize that tax disputes with the IRS are common with returns as complex as Bershire Hathaway's must be. But it does put a different perspective on his "Tax Me More Please" public stance.

Too late. If you take a look at this "occupy wall st" movement, it has already proven itself as being stupid. Defecating on a police car, doing drugs in public, having sex in public, asking for handouts, not showering for a week, etc. Good times!

Some additional thoughts.....

  • You will not have to press 1 for anything
  • English is the language of the United States, learn it or struggle for the rest of your life.
  • If you don't have a job and income you don't qualify for any loans....
  • If you don't contribute into Social Security you can't withdraw from it
  • Government employees must work to 65 before collecting a pension or Social Security just like the rest of us but NOT BOTH.
  • Government agencies will be trimmed back
  • The US Postal Service will operate within their income.
  • The Federal Government will balance its budget annually
  • Elected Public Officials will share in the expense and use the same medical plans and coverage their constituents must use.
  • Registered voters must use official identification in order to vote in any election..
  • No free medicine. If you don't want to work and contribute to a plan you will qualify for a do it yourself kit.
  • Drug dealers will be shot, survivors will be shot again.
  • The border will be closed....period
  • You have the right to bear arms, the constitution declares this.

I think its great! Our republic at work! I have seen my parents who are middle class, struggle to try and keep middle class status!

You know one of the MAJOR issue with the USA IS the government itself.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
 
If you hate Wall street, sell ALL your stocks and bonds. Also close your IRA's .
 
The problem is taking our country back from those who hijacked it a long, long time ago. They will buy off or co-opt anyone who tries to make any meaningful change, if that doesn't work they'll kill him/her. The 2 party system, special interest groups, lobbyists, corporations, banks,... it's a game set up by the 2 per cent that run this country (and world) and we the common people aren't even players. I think about ancient Rome and how even the greatest civilizations that start out with the most noble ideals go through phases that I fear we are traveling through now: corruption, decadence, decay, and fall. Maybe it's just life, but I hope we can leave our children with something they can be proud of inheriting. Just my 2 cents.
 
I think that these protestors should man up and go get a job. They have no cohesive message that has any traction with Americans.

Lets face it, a large portion of this country thinks that everyone else is hiding their cheese. They want their cheese spoon fed to them every day.

As most of you are aware, abut 50 percent of our country does not pay any taxes. The rest of us pay for everyone. Yes, even the rich people pay for all of the programs for the poor and unemployed.

I support a flat tax without any deductions. Of course, the non payers in the USA would whine about this. Capital gains should actually be taxed at a lower rate. This would spur economic growth and job creation by the private sector.

If everyone stopped blaming others for their own failures or poor choices, we would all be better off.

Full disclosure, I am one of the people who are paying for the other half to live off the government.

Yes, I agree with you. What I was saying about our constitutional "republic" government is... The United States is the world’s oldest surviving federation (a sovereign state, comprised of partially self-governed states united by a central government). This central (federal) government is a representative democracy (a type of government where elected officials represent the people). So, what I was saying is our country's republic or hence, constitutional republic is based on our constitution which was formed due to our belief in the Declaration of Independence.

As you quoted the Declaration of Independence, what the Occupy Wall Street is trying to do is, "it is the Right of the People to alter [government] or to abolish it." And this movement is trying to alter the government to "...most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." We all elected our representative officials and now the country’s letting them know we are not happy with their representation and how they are running the country. If like you said,

they you, I and the country need to effect change in it - vote for new officials, write/email your representatives and join in with causes (like Occupy Wall Street) you believe in.
