This is just part of what my sisters car looked like before I clayed polished and sealed it.

I had to pick every "black dot" off the hood bumper and fenders and go over and over with clay to completely remove them.

There's wooded area by her dorm at school. I'm assuming something coming from the trees??

tar? asphalt?

pretty sure it's not. They're black until you pick them off. Then it's a reddish color left on the paint until it's clayed off.

It has a tar feel to it though. But I'm leaning towards it being a "dropping" of some sort

I have had this same thing on my grandpa's car. I didn't come off from washing, but claying easily took care of it. I assumed it was something from the trees.

I'm in a need of a product that can clean them off

Everything that I've used to remove them strips the lsp and I'd hate to have to wax the whole front end everytime I clean it off

Have you tried a QD on it?

I get those on the front windows of my home in the fall season; they come from a large pin oak tree. They are very difficult to remove, but since they are on the window I can scrap the off with a razor blade.

Bacon

They are deffenitely from wood, we get them all the time at the dealership I work at and somehow wood makes those little things it sounds crazy doesnt it haha

Seeing this is your first post ..welcome to the forum..

So these tar like dots are blowing from the trees onto the cars?

It sounds like the artillery fungus that likes to attach itself to clear coats. I don't know much about it, but someone should chime in here soon with more info.

I just googled it and I'm going to have to say you're right. And that I found the answer to my question.

Thanks for solving my mystery!

Try some Poor Boys Bug Squash on them.Spray on, let dwell, wipe gently.
