hey guys. im looking for something that i can use to use on trim/plastic, rubber (under hood and tires) and maybe use for interior dressing or even door seals. i would like to have something that is not very shiny but is lasting. something that is easy to apply, preferably a spray. also i want to be able to use it to dress the engine bay. and something that isnt budget busting. here are some products i found on here and have read good stuff about. but i dont know which would be my best choice or if there is a better choice that i didnt list:

303 aerospace
1Z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant Tiefenpfleger
duragloss #531
sonus trim and motor kote

Many will say UTTG / UIGP or PERL. UTTG is supposed to be the longest lasting.

I just applied PERL to my entire Jeep... bumpers, trim, seals, engine, interior, etc. I really like it. The color is awesome. However, I am not sure how long it will last on the exterior.

If you want something that does interior and exterior in one product then PERL is your product.

If you want something for exterior only and durability is the most important aspect then UTTG.

Believe it or not I don't have a review for UTTG (I've always just posted info on it in other people's threads) but look at my review on Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant. WG ETS and UTTG are almost the same functionally.

I would stay away from 303 on my tires bc it will turn then brown other than that its fine and cost effective by the gallon, however I think you would be better off with PERL.

Read the reviews two or three times last night. Ordered the PERL

Bullitt 736

i have read a lot of good stuff about the perl. i was thinking about going with sonus kote basicly since it is on BOGO right now.

PERL defiantly wins out in versatility. But IMO UTTG is the only way to go on exterior.

i gotta say after reading some more reviews on other sites and kinda skeptical on perl. im not really considering uttg due to cost and to my understanding you cant apply it by spraying..? any other thoughts?

UTTG is a great product...spraying would be wastefull although Ive tried it.(Dosen't work so well) A little goes a long way!(20-30 cars with the same bottle)

I use UTTG on all exterior trim, no tires(Opti-Bond for that) and have great success and great feedback from my customers.

:iagree:
I have had really great success and feedback with uttg.yes it costs more up front, but you can do at least 20 apps with it if not more so the cost is about the same as a gal of other products. Uttg lasts so much longer than anything else I have used, c4 excluded, and looks great. I would rec it highly.if it's good enough for cee dog, it's great for me.

What have you read? I'm pretty happy so far. You can see it on my Jeep here: 2001 Jeep

i ran across as couple of threads on another site that said they didnt have good luck with it on the tires. resulted in not lasting through a good rain and others complaining about their tires turning brown after a couple of days. after thinking about it some more im wondering if the problem was their application. and whether or not they cleaned the tires good or not.

We just got done having rain here in Tampa. My tires are definitely not as black and crisp as they were when I first applied the PERL. I was a bit bummed about this. But, they still look great and are not brown. I did a 1:1 mixture on my tires. I figure for as little as I had to use for the entire vehicle and how cheap this stuff is, I'll just re-apply when needed.

nice job on the detail work..
did you use perl for everything (inside/out, trim, rubber, plastic, dash engine etc)? thats kinda my plan.

Sonus Trim & Motor Kote 16.9 oz. Buy One, Get One Free! That can be applied to almost everything except interior I think.

ya thats pretty much what im finding. i was reading somewhere that it may leave a type of tacky residue.. but im sure some reviews are flawed due to different circumstances.
i was hoping i could find someone on here with first hand experience.

After using PERL the tires won't turn brown for more than a month. They must not have cleaned them properly.

As far as rain washing PERL off tires it is a water based dressing so water will have an affect on it but in my experience it lasts through at least a few rainy drives before it fades enough to warrant another coat. In rainy weather it looked good on my daily driver for more than a week and decent for about 2 if I recall correctly. Hasn't been raining lately.

Applied next to DP tire gel they both faded about the same and neither turned brown in over a month.

Anyway, I think it holds up as well or better than any other water based product.

On textured windshield cowl trim I applied it to it lasted looking good about a month but on some trim types it didn't last as long.

I really like it on my interior. I will probably try UTTG for exterior though. However, this stuff goes a long way. So it may be awhile.

For a rookie like me, can you or someone els please tell me what products UTTG and PERL acronyms represent (full names)?

Thank you,

I preffer dG 531 for seals, UIGP for interior and UTTG or WG ETS for trim.
