I have a new 2012 vehicle with jet black paint. Unfortunately, I have to drive it in the elements everyday, so naturally I am concerned about bug guts, acid rain, and general fallout on the paint.

Any ideas on protecting my vehicle? CQuartz? The new NanoFusion? I know nothing lasts forever..but do any of these space age wax/sealents REALLY protect against acid rain?

Or maybe I should just get some Clearshield over the whole hood??

If you want the best protection, IMO, nothing beats a real carnauba. Problem is durability. But if you don't mind waxing frequently, nothing beats it.

Thanks for the reply. I wish it was that easy..I haven't had much luck with dark colored cars and acid rain- even with Caranuba. Like you said, maybe the first week you are ok..after that, the protection seems to go away considerably. Problem is, I don't think I have time to wax every week.

There have been some very good recent reviews of CQUARTZ on here. The durability tests have proven its quite the product.
I am using CQUARTZ on one of my cars, and using Blackfire, with Collinite over top on my other car.

Opti-Coat or Cquartz if you want very long durability or don't have much time to be applying sealants or waxes. With Cquartz you can use Reload spray sealant to boost the protection which I see as a major plus in the system. But Opti-Coat is very good as well.

FK1000P provides similar protection to carnauba but is more durable. KSG gets some good reviews too. As mentioned, the coatings are more durable, but there have already been reports of people getting etching issues with some, granted the coating is getting etched, not your paint, but still.

Any good choice would be Collinite 845. Easy to use, reasonably priced, looks good and lasts a long time. It's highly recommended by many forum members.

There are no quick fixes for a black daily driver. Black is not a color, but a part-time job. Good Luck to you.

Rejex is quite durable but will need to be reapplied every two months for a daily driver. The key to most daily drivers is wash often, and protect on a normal schedule.

^^ This.

A lot of options out there, one thing that shouldn't be overlooked is properly prepping the paint for your wax/sealant. This will help to improve the longevity of the product.

Collinite 845 or Fuzion

Might wanna consider a sealant with wax on top.
