For those who have used both, can you tell a difference, and if so, what?

Didn't know there were 2 generations. I know the 3" Griot has a second generation. When did generation 2 come out?

Hi there yes came out a few years ago. The 6" now shape alittle different but has a lor more amps. There was a change in orbit size to give it a little more ummph. The 3 " has a different shape too make it more ergonamic I have that one now works great

Sorry, accidently pressed button sent too early. I have the earlier version of the 6" Griots orbital works great but gota chance to try the newer ver definitely has more ummph but I bought a Flex that I use mostly unless job needs then I bust out my Makita.

The 1st generation is less powerful. I'm putting mine on Ebay sometime this weekend.

Here are some pics.

Maybe someone has a new pic to compare.

I don't think anyone made an official announcment, but yes, there is a difference between the ones being produced now -vs- the ones made 2 years ago :buffing:

I wasn't aware the amperage or orbit size had changed? Are you talking about the 3" or the 6"? :buffing:

Mark,

What difference did you notice between the one your brother ran over and the one you have now? (if any)

BTW I'm not tight, just poor :(

If I remember correctly, the original Griot's didn't have a removable backing plate.

This one is mine, bought it back in july.... I think this is the second generation, but I really don't know....

Looks the same as my old and new one. Except mine are covered in 105 :dunno:

so both must be the new one.... =]

Again - here is the first generation.

Completely different

Thx for posting the pic a second time. I must admit I didn't look the first time

Did you remove the housing, or did it come like that?

Might be the case. Something still feels different though

When I'm on speed 6 with the new one, it feels like speed 5 with the old one :buffing:

I know the first didn't have removable back plates. I didn't realize they changed it twice since then. I thought it was just once

IDK. Thats what I'm trying to get answers to

The one complaint I have about Griots products, is that their techline blows. Unless its on a script they can read, they can't tell you anything. I would be willing to bet $50 they've never even used the machine

That is how it came

My understanding is there is only two versions.

The new one has more power before cutting out so you have better correction. The old one almost too safe.
