Not sure about Duragloss #501?

was wondering if i need to use i like a polish (18" by 18" section with 4 to 6 section passes) or more like applying a wax? i'm not looking for alot of correction just a good difference in paint clarity!!

I have the same question ...

When applying either 501 or 105 do you need to prime your pad or just apply four droplets to the pad? Also I have the hydro tech pads, would the tangerine pad be the right choice for the application?

I don't prime the pad with 105/501, but I do generally use it like a polish. If you have used KAIO, use it in the same way, you can just apply like a wax/sealant or work it in if you need additional cleaning ability. When applying a wax, I go as big an area as the amount of wax on the pad will allow, you can see when it's not much spreading anymore so you be the judge.

Thanks! What hydro tech pad would you use for application?

I use all three depending how much added cut I want to go along with the 105/501. The H20 pads finish so nicely, you can't go wrong with any of them. If no further cutting is needed, the crimson would be my choice.

I will probably use the Tangerine hydro tech pad when I apply the 4:1 501/601 mixture and the crimson pad when I apply the 4:1 105/601 mixture then.

Great post! I'm late to the party (august) but one question.

Why use dg105 as a sealant instead of dg111? Is it because 105 is more durable?

I've never used DG products and I'm going to give it a try this round...

Is Duragloss 501 more aggressive than PO85rd if both were applied with white pad?

My thought is I just polished my white GM Truck with PO85rd with d/a polisher and white LC flat pad and have the paint very smooth and swirl free.

I currently have BFWD Sealant on my paint and may try Duragloss 501 and 105 in Spring. Always looking for ultimate shine or wetness on white!

DG #111 is recommended for new vehicles (less than 1 year old).
DG #105 has additional cleaning properties and is recommended for all vehicles.

601
Is similar to an epoxy (A&B) and bonds chemically when it comes into contact with durable polishes. Duragloss PBA will double the durability and protection of polishes when applied prior to polishing.

Step Saver Tip - Blend 1 part #601 to 4 parts of either #101, 105, 111, or 501 for added durability and gloss. Accelerates the curing process for instant bonding. Apply within 2 hours after mixing for maximum results

Hello :) My 1st post here.

I intend to use DG 501 with a Griots 6" DA (after wash/clay) on an Alpine White BMW (2005, paint in good condition, but hasn't received a clay/polish for some time).

So as a newb, I have a few Questions:

-which speed should I use on the Griots DA?
-I intend to get some LC white pads - is this appropriate? I intend to do some LIGHT swirl removing, if any.
-or should I go with some Griots pads? any recommendations?
-will a MF towel be enough to wipe off DG501 after using the DA or should I get some MF bonnets?

-After DG501 I intend to use Black Fire Crystal Seal as a sealant for added gloss and protection. How long should I best wait before this step, after DG501? 6 hrs?

Thanks much in advance!

- Speed 4
- LC White is fine for your purposes
- LC is better than Griot's pads IMO
- MF towel is just fine, comes off like butter
- There's no need to top it IMO, but I would wait a couple hours if you absolutely want to top it. I prefer to top sealants with a good wax or generally just top it with Aquawax, about as glossy as it gets.

Welcome aboard first of all!

I've been using the 6" GG RO for about 2 yrs now and its a great machine for us "backyard detailers"! For what your going for the GG orange pads would be fine but the DG #501 doesn't really have a lot of cut, so know that going in. If your looking to improve the looks after a wash/clay while adding some protection, well, full speed ahead, DG #501 is a great product for cleaning the paint after claying, always cleans and amazes its user everytime, it did for me! The addition of #DG 601 (polish bonding agent) is a good addition to this product as it not only let's you layer right away but adds longevity to the product but isn't 100% necessary since you've already got the products on hand. You might even find yourself applying 2 coats of DG #501, its that easy to use and really whitens whites. As far as adding BFCS to the mix, nothing wrong with that but I'd add 2 coats of that for sure (waiting 45 minutes for it to flash)

Let's see some pics and comments once your done with the Beemer and btw, a nice mf towel like those fom GG is just fine for removing the DG #501, or any other QUALITY mf towel. Advanced Auto Parts carries the GG mf towels in all configurations too!

If your looking for durability and protection (added bonus of reflections) top the 601/501 with 601/105. The 601/105 can last up to a year and probably more. Maintain with 932 and Aqua Wax. Unless you like applying products then use what ever you feel the need for. Klasse I believe has used the 111 which may amp up reflections but I do not know the durability.
