Sorry Adam, did just see your other post from earlier. I will call you tomorrow. I havent made up my mind, in fact, I dont care either way about this car. Seems like it would cost more than its worth to fix it up.

flip it!

if you're able to catch the car for the price stated, be open and willing to put some $ into a few of the "affordable" issues that are prone to be major issues with the car. from that point, use some detailing work on the under carriage, around the motor and all the suspension.

an early 20 something or even a late teen would be happy to catch the car for below blue book with a few of the issues approached and documented with new parts.

*being really clean always helps too! ;)*

so with all that said, if you want to buy the car and have it for a few months to play with and make some $ without too much work, it could be worth it.

i say get it if he wants 1750 for it and you can talk him down, (i paid 1800 for my celica with 106k mi and no third gear and the worst paint job ever from windshield foward. car prices are high here in beaufort) and then i would fix up whats wrong with the ZX and sell it for a higher profit, pics proved to me again engine bay is way to tight to work on the thing! sell it and you could find something that's fun to drive yet has power and will be reliable enough for a daily driver, theres probably a reason why you don't see many 300zx tt's on the road.....good luck with whatever you decide and just hope it don't turn into one of those cars where every time you look at it you find something screwed up..find a 94-99 celica with a 3SGTE swap LOL

Hey Garry...good to see the pics. If you can get it for $1000 then I say go for it. It is going to need some work but it looks like a fun project car. If the turbos are shot I would go with aftermarket.

The rear wing is easy to fix. There are plenty that are made now that are not OEM but look even better. If you get it I'll send you a Z key chain :)

Gary if you should decide to have the rust repair make sure they actually cut the rust out and weld a new peice in.

Otherwise the rust will return in a matter of a few months , unless it is just surface rust.

Rust that has already eaten through the metal needs to be cut out and the metal replaced.

Thanks for the input guys. I made that offer yesterday and he said he would talk to his wife. How long should I wait to follow up? I'm thinking Monday.

I would wait until he contacts you, unless your willing to sweeten to pot

I would go 1500 cash I guess. I wouldn't pay any more for that because it needs about 2500 worth of work to be a good looking toy. If I'm going to make an investment in a used car like this I need it to still be worth more than my investment after I'm done. I will wait until he contacts me I guess.

Throw in another detail. It won't cost you anything but time. Give him a call Thursday or Friday. Ppl are in a better mood towards the end of the week

You would look verrrry smooooth in that ZCar Garry Dean :cruisin:

I loved these cars back in the day. My uncle had a red 300zx TT. That said, If that car were mine I'd pay someone to come and take it away.

I would not buy one. They are great look cars but damn they are PITA to work on. The dealer I am at we will only do limited work we send most our customers to the local Z shop its called.

garry i would be very careful on all of the mechanical sides of the car like the guys say. you know how to do the cosmetics but spinning wrenches is a BIG difference. if you have a close buddy in the t/stp who can carefully ck it ie compression etc id let that be my guide. not knowing the mileage it could be the main/rod bearings are badly worn. remember most people who buy turbos run the tar out of them. i got badly burned financially on a 911 porsche turbo years ago and learned a HARD lesson.

I have two 1994 300zx tt's and I agree with most people on here. I would say bottom line is buy it ONLY if you can do the mechanical work yourself. Other wise its going to cost you a butt load of money to fix up the car paying a mechanic to do the work for you. I do all of my own won work on my cars and as was said these cars are not easy to work on. Most people that work on them end up screwing these cars up worse than they started. But I love my 300zx's would not sell either of them. Good luck
