good day,

its alredi been a month since i last post and now finally i got a opportunity to detail a F10. my heart always urge when comes to detailing, this is why i always wanted to get my bare hands to restore it to satisfied myself. sounds like a dog craving for bone, or a cat craving for fish but for me, im craving satisfaction. i got his call in the morning and drove down to the city to meet him. since he is a busy man, i offer him to let me take his car back and send it back to him once it done. introduce you "The Ultimate Machine"

this car previously sent to CXXX for waxing session, irresponsible "detailer" have not clean up the residue they did. and now i should bring this car back to fit the 2 above slogan for its pride. i always love to start with the wheel 1st cause the engine is still sizzling hot, i wasted 1hour to let the wheel/brake caliper to cool down. as usual i love using OPC to clean the wheel but this time the dilution is a little different. i actually use full concentrated to clean cause the wheel is really tough for me due to the spokes are too tight and my hand are not able to fit in the wheel, not forget the wheel spokes designed easily to get dirt trap inside.

something like this before

and after 4hours of cleaning process

thanks to this amazing brushes and OPC

after cleaning the wheels, the engine should be fully cool down. OPC was carry out again diluted 1:3

afer cleaning the engine bay, i washed the car with ONR
DSC02616.jpg

ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU JUST NEED 2GALLON WATER + 3CAPS ONR TO WASH THE ENTIRE CAR
DSC02617.jpg

surface preparation and inspection begins
DSC02618.jpg

the paint surface is good, just some washing RIDS and the weird part is i only found swirls behind the trunk but not in front the hood.

luckily i have found one of the hidden residue
DSC02635.jpg

for not wasting my time, i start compound the surface with wool + OHC the main reason doing this is to remove all the washing RIDS and swirls behind the trunk, the headlamp and rear brake light also successfully corrected.

DSC02636.jpg

after corrected
DSC02637.jpg

after 3hours of compounding, i decided to go to bed rest and continue tomorrow morning
DSC02640.jpg

the next morning before i rinse off the car i clean the existing wax residue with tooth pick for the hard reach area

the rear model emblem also clean with a paint brush
DSC02649.jpg

after rinse off any compound residue, OHP + double sided foam was used to polish and finish at the same time. later on inspect the whole surface again to prevent any left over residue. once the inspection was done, i bring the car out under the sun to check whether have any holograms/swirls leave behind.

DSC02662.jpg

then let the car cool down for abit and wipe down with IPA diluted 1:3 to remove any polishing oil to a clear finish. finally, the serious paint protection begins..

introduce you Optimum Opti-Coat
DSC02661.jpg

Opti-Coat is a permanent coating, it acts as a second layer of a clear coat that protects the paint over its lifetime! please dont get misunderstand, Opti-Coat is not a wax, sealant or a nano coating. Opti-Coat uses a resin technology that forms a permanent bond to paint and cures, just like an extra layer of clear coat. while waiting the coating to cure, i clean the interior surface with Opti-Clean and coated some of the area etc like console dashboard and door panel which have clear coat.

Wow, awesome job. I'm going to use opti-coat on my truck here soon. Just had the bumpers repainted this weekend so want to get everything sealed up while it still looks good.

It looks good but this right here doesnt sit right with me. I would never start off that heavy when it is only light wash induced marring and light swirling. I'd rather take the extra 5-10 mins it would take to test different combos. I worked on one before with slighly more marring and all that was need was M205/LC white.

for not wasting my time, i start compound the surface with wool + OHC the main reason doing this is to remove all the washing RIDS and swirls behind the trunk, the headlamp and rear brake light also successfully corrected.

i totally agree with you. i did a test spot at 1st by using different compounds. since im using Optimum 2 pads finish system (compound, polish & finish) i start off with OHP 1st, surprising it came off if not i would use M105. the clear coat are the hard type, i did few passes with OHP to remove those swirls and RIDS. your advice i will keep it, thank you so much!

Wow! Looks good to me!

Nice work documenting everything with pictures and inserting them instead of attaching them...

Now as long as they don't disappear off your Photobucket account down the road...

This is a cool shot too... right hand drive...

Unfortunately? I think thats so cool. I always wanted a right side drive car :)

Nice work. I have an F10 that I did a full detail that took about 2 days:
I had a lot of swirls in the paint. I used Meguiars Microfiber correction compound, a 5 inch cutting disc and a Porter cable 7424.
Polishing with a Lake Country White foam pad and Mezerna Super Nano Finish.
Wax, I appplied Menzerna Powerlock with a gold foam pad. one thin layer, wipe off, then repeat. Allow to cure overnight.
Used 303 on all rubber seams and trim pieces using Detailing Sticks.
Use QD to go over any spots you missed or tape residue and product dust left behind.
Apologize to wife/girlfriend/family members, for being gone for 2 days.
