Microfiber and Pad detergent

Tried the Sanitize cycle (both with and without steam) on my LG. Didn't get any of the stains out that were there after my normal med/cold wash. Also, did affect the texture of the MFs negatively. Won't be doing again.

YMMV.

Sorry man...now I feel responsible. And crushed...that if I ever get one of those new-fangled washers, I still won't be able to get those stains out of my MF's :(

No worries. Like I said, I was quite willing to experiment with those particular MFs (wheels, exhaust, etc. and household). Still good for those applications.

Funny, got the washer and matching dryer for all of those fancy features and don't use almost any.

I usually just toss in some oxygenated bleach ( not oxiclean ) in hot water, let it swish for a few mins then let them soak for about 15 mins. Continue the wash and they come out looking new every time.

I'm wanting to try the Snappy and Micro-Restore soon to see how well they do.

You gotta get the high-end models, the lower end models just look weird without all the cool knobs and buttons!

I purchase and use DP by the gallons.

2-3oz per small(10-12 16"x16"MF's)load,depending how dirty they are.Add 1/4cup of vinegar on the second rinse cycle and they are good to go.

Is this what you're talking about?

Also, when you have one of those (HE) new fancy machines. There is a learning curve, since they use less water and detergent. Most of the time I will use Tide Free/Clean. No fragrances, softners, etc. Alittle vinegar in the final or extra rinse cycle. My theory is to use what is inexpensive, cleans the towels and does what I need it to do. If the MF cleaners (DP,Micro-Restore, etc.) are on sale BOGO I will get some for a once a month or pre-soak, etc.

ok, once you get them washed - air dry or dryer-dry?

I understand no dryer sheet, right?

If someone could develop a truly knock your socks off microfiber cleaner, (one that would keep mf soft, absorbent and remove stains), they would make millions, imo.

I use perfume and dye free Tide, no more than halfway to the lowest line on the cup, and multiple rinse cycles. It usually takes two rinse cycles without additional detergent to eliminate any foaming. On the important MF towels, I'll do and extra rinse beyond that for good measure. I usually use the extra small load. then I dry on low for about half an hour, only the first 20 minutes of which is heat.

I noticed that the additional 'extra' rinse cycles has really brought out the softness in my MF towels. Even the loads of my skanky towels.

I used to do a hand prewash in the tub of my stained MF towels, rubbing stains with a bar of soap, floating dirt out of the fibers with a strong flow of water, and inspecting/picking ('delousing' woud be a good analogy here) for visible particles. Instead I've tried doing an additional first machine wash with costco dye free detergent, rinse, and then use my dedicated Tide free. Less water and time than going through one by one.

I'm no expert here on washing MF towels. The best advice I can contribute is to give an additional wash cycle or two with plain water, beyond what you think the towels would be ok with, and see if you get an improvement in cleanliness and softness that warrants the extra water for your region, and of course your time.

Wasup Guys, Just want to know from you guys if you use dedicated MF detergents and if yes what can you recommend? Thanks!

I've used about 5 kinds and they all work well enough. They were Micro Restore, Pinnacle, DP, Chemical Guys, and something else. My favorite by a little is probably the first one. It seems to leave towels a little bit more clingy feeling to the fingertips, which I equate with cleaner.

I got 6 bottles of M-R on sale (BOGO) at the end of the summer so I'm set for a while. :xyxthumbs:

I like the idea of using clothes detergent (cheaper) and tried a free and clear detergent, but I didn't like the absorbancy of my WW drying towels after using it. It's OK for other towels though, and use it sometimes. But I'd still use a micro soap every third wash or so, just to strip the soap residue that I know it leaves on clothes and bath towels. In fact I use micro soap every now and then to strip bath towels extra clean.
