I won some Carpro Eraser a while back and I promised I would do a review. I really haven't had a lot of time to do any detail work on the weekends and weather hasn't been good when I have had time.
My Trans Am spends most of it's time in storage but I had a chance to pull it out and clean it up a little. While sitting in storage something settled on the wheels and stained the lip. I decided I would polish them up and Opticoat the whole wheel. I figured this would be a great chance to try out Eraser. Optimum says to use an IPA wipe down as prep for OC but I thought I would try Eraser in place of the IPA.
Now for some pictures
before
hard to see but there is some splotches on the spoke all the spokes were like this
50/50 of the barrel of the wheel
After a little polishing with my PC and an orange 4" LC pad using SIP
finished polishing the whole wheel and washed it to remove any residue. Even after using dawn the water was still beading so out came the Eraser
At the time I didn't think to get pictures of the process but it is very simple. Spray Eraser on the surface and wipe with a mf towel. I really liked how well Eraser worked. It smells pretty good and the mf towel didn't seem to grab and pull on the finish. When I've used IPA the towel would feel like it was grabbing the paint and it made it not so easy to wipe.
After using Eraser I wanted to see if the water would still bead so I sprayed the wheel and there was no beading at all. I know I've removed all the polishing oils now and I'm looking at the true results of my work. Again I forgot to take pictures
After Opticoating the wheel
Final Thoughts:
While mixing an IPA solution is much cheaper I have to say Eraser is well worth the price. I think it removes the oils better and the slickness that it has when wiping off the paint really makes me feel safter about not inducing any new marring. I have noticed on occation that IPA does not always remove all the oils. I"m not sure if this is user error (probably is) but I did not experiance this with Eraser. Did I mention that the smell is pretty nice. I'm not exactly sure what the smell is but it remided me of Fruit Loops or some other cereal like that.
The sprayer on the bottle works very well and after doing the two front wheels I didn't use up much product.
If you have the opertunity to purchase Eraser I would do it without any doubt. Its another great product produced by Carpro
