 no happy medium in the DC center where i work. it go's from killing you to not enough hours. been pulling about 36 hours the last few weeks. may not sound like much, but i feel it big time this month. had to rob from peter to give to paul. guess they spread out the christmas inventory over six months this year, and a NY DC opening took some heat from us. i mean it all evens out, but i was shocked how a few missing hours add up! good thing is i will have 40 hours of sick time paid out at the end of the year. guess you take the good with the bad. i was taught to hang in there, this is temporary. it will pick up. and i am due for a small raise soon. i wish i could find something closer! driving 250 miles a week does not help. about a $40-$50 gas bill weekly. guess i am lucky to be working. alot of people are still out of work. oh well, the cc got a work out this month!

When I had a crappy job I would just tell myself that there are thousands of people sitting on their couch right now who just wish they had a crappy job. I don't complain about my employment anymore. If I'm unhappy then I start looking for something new, but I'm the last one to start complaining about drawing a paycheck every two weeks.

Hang in there, man.

no doubt sir. today, there are 100 people behind you to take that job.

and thats a low figure!

Just got back from a interview.....I was applicant #17 out of 350

Yeah man, this is hitting home too...I got hrs reduced for a few months now, but today we got word that if things don't pick up by January the company will close its doors...I still have faith and do my best to stay positive, but at the same time I'm already building crab snares (for fishing) and selling them, I mean you gotta do what ever you gotta do...

Hang in there, a year or so ago we had a 10% pay cut same amount of work, since then we have turned the corner and are stable.

I know all those commute miles add up $$$. I used to commute 500+mi. a wk. plus 2 toll bridges. Thank god I did not have to pay parking. To top all that off the city taxes where I was working were sky high. Finally had to throw in the towel, the time plus the money just did not add up. Ended up working were I lived, no commute to speak of and no city taxes at all. I took an hourly cut in pay but because of not having any city tax I ended up netting only $15 less. Go figure?

I hope things pick up for you. I feel grateful reading this thread. I sometimes complain about having too much work. I live 1 mile from my job and have basically as much detailing work as I want on the side of that and yet I still complain. I feel like a schmuck when I see guys struggling to get by. Threads like this tend to pull me back onto the beam. Thanks for posting it and the best of luck to you.

Sorry to hear. I know my best friend is going through the same situations. Me on the other hand, im military and pay stays the same no matter how many hours I work. Currently working 12 hour days 6 days a week.
