Just curious to see how/or if you guys segregate for washing microfiber towels: I segregate into three groups

A. Wax Removal, QD, Drying towels,
B. Glass, Dash/ Vinyl interior towels, metal polishing
C. Wheels, Tires, Carpet and Door Jamb towels

I do.

Mike, Your book should be arriving at my door at any minute now!! Can't wait to give it a look over. Will be taking it with me on my Thanksgiving road trip to Watertown New York so I'll have some great reading material.

I really like that 3 bin hamper thing that you show in the above post. Where can I get one of those? My towels end up spilling out of plastic bags onto the floor of my van and the then get thrown into a questionable quarantined area where they'll be used with caution (no black paint) I now have several thousand towels in that quarantined area, sure could use one of those 3 bin organizers.

Your going to love the book. I stayed up all night reading it and I'm about to read it for the second time. It's a great book. A lot of useful material.

Dave, they have them at walmart.

I do drying towels, qd towels, interior towels, door jamb towels, buffing towels, polish removal towels,.

Wheel towels never go in my washer.

I keep mine "segregated" almost exactly like BobbyG does, down to the same three-drawer storage units. Except I used a P-touch labeler instead of a Sharpie. :)

Mine do, along with greasy door jambers, but only after a long pre-soak with hot water and PMR. I run an empty hot-water load with Oxy-Clean after doing the greasy MFs.

Absolutely!

Washing drying towels with wax removal towels will reduce the absorbency of your drying towels! ;)

I have mine segregated like this:

  • Drying
  • Polish/wax removal
  • Final wipe/delicate paint (soft pristine towels)
  • Jambs/misc
  • Glass

I think your category "A" will cause some absorption problems with your Drying towels, mixing wax removal MF's in with them.

Did not know this! Thanks

How important is it to separate your towels? I just wash all mine together...

Pretty important..just think of that microfiber you just used to remove sealant, the sealants almost never come out of the applicators or micros and you would want to use that same towel for same product next time to prevent cross contamination

I do it similarly to what Mike mentioned. I even have a 3 bin system that hangs on my shop wall.

So even with a dedicated MF detergent, my microfiber cloths are still contaminated with residue from car detailing products?

Not always, depends on what products you used. If you applied a sealant with a microfiber product,,that microfiber will somewhat always have some sealant in it. Just dedicate certain microfibers/pads ect to a specific product or job.
Example..Sealant application pads/applicators Use those for the next time you apply that same type product

Common sense is your guide, just think of that rag you cleaned up spilled lawnmower gas with,,,It always seems to smell of gas forever

I have the book and really learned a lot from it. You will enjoy it.
