I put a coat of BFWD on yesterday and let it cure overnight. To remove the dust accumulated overnight I used a California Duster and I have some XMT Final Finish Instant Detailer to use. Do you think that will be sufficient or should I rewash it before applying a second coat of BFWD?

If it has been in your garage with NO CHANCE of any water touching it and you are completely confident, it should be ok. If you are second guessing yourself rewash

My car collects dust even though I store it in the closed garage. I prefer to do a ONR wash or try opti clean.

A quick going over with a waterless wash and microfiber towel will work fine but a California Duster to remove a single nights worth of dust will work as well...:props:

Do you think the instant detailer would interfere with the BFWD bonding?

Anything that contains gloss polymers, waxes, oils, or silicone's could affect how the sealant bonds to the initial coat. An instant detailer should be fine.

Realistically, how much dust is really in the surface? This should dictate the approach you take. A microscopic layer of dust on horizontal surfaces really won't affect the application of an additional cost.

A second coat will ensure good coverage. I usually wait a week or two before applying a second coat of Blackfire..gives the first coat some time to cure. Or, you can go by the 12 hour rule.
Does additional coat do anything? Can it be layered? or is it just a myth?
I don't think anyone has proven yet that there are more then one coat?

I ended up using a California Duster and that got the job done. Regarding the second coat I did it to ensure good coverage and it did amp up the gloss some. I really like that stuff, easy to use, doesn't stain plastic trim, gives a very slick finish and looks fantastic. I had planned on topping it with Souveran but it looks so good now I won't be in a hurry to do so.

I have the same experience - gave the car two coats, and it looked so good and felt so slick that I decided not to top it, even though I have a number of waxes that I've yet to use.

yes, it for sure makes a difference. visually and tactile feel of the slickness. protection wise, i'm sure it couldnt hurt either.
