I get a call from a guy today, he needs his carpets cleaned, no biggy. I go down there, 95 geo prism, pretty dirty but I got it done. Apparently this guy buys cars, fixes them up and sells them. He has a detailer that he uses regularly but is looking for a new one.

Anyways, he shows me his "baby" the one he takes care of "himself"...

Swirls on top of swirls, swirly swirl swirlzy. Mazda, black so it's even worse... I told him about my method for swirl removal, too bad I didn't bring my DA with me :( I wanted to polish it so bad...

Anyways, I thought it was kinda funny, he was pretty proud of it, that swirly swirly beast lol Hopefully he'll call me back, and I can remove those swirls, if he was impressed by how it looks now, hed flip when I get done with it lol

You should always have your polisher with you for a potential upsell

I know I know :( Lesson learned. I bet if I did a quick demo he would have made an appointment. Tomorrow I should be free, I may just give him a call just to give him a demo.

Now your talking! :props:

He probally doesn't even know better. Don't talk down to him, make fun of or laugh at. Be sensitive to his ignorance

lol Just called him back.... 2:00 tomorrow, demo set up.

lol of course!! I'll probably do a 2x2 foot section on the rear end.

Tape half the trunk. Do a two step, show him the difference, then do the rest of the trunklid and let him decide where he wants to go from there

Good idea. I have a feeling he will bite, he was so proud of it lol

I'll post pics in this thread when I do.

anyone ever lose a sale by doing that?

I mean, you do it right in front of the owner, he sees how easy it was so decides he can do it himself...

They'd have to buy at least 200 dollars worth of equipment/product.

Remind them how dangerous it can be to. Scare tactics usually always work :D

sometimes, when I remove swirls, my arms have a tendency to fall off. It's a hell of a time putting them back on.

For some reason I tend to have a problem with this. Esp. with things I'm good at. Just ask the wife.

Gotta work on it. . .
