New to the site and there's a lot to absorb. I will be doing a lot of reading in my spare time to bring myself up to speed. I own several vehicles, from a fifties car chrome laden car, with lacquer paint, to a newer foreign (german) car, so I'm sure there's a variety of products out there.

Trying to read and absorb everything here is like trying to find a sponge large enough to absorb all the water in Lake Superior!

There is allot of great and informative information here but if you stick with the basics and go slowly you'll quickly see that none of this is rocket science and can be quite satisfying and enjoyable.

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within.

Very, very cool...

I made a video a number of years ago using a 1960 Tuxedo Black Corvette with single stage lacquer paint and buffed out a number of these body styles in my life. Always like working on classic Vettes...

The Vette in my Avatar is a 1959... Vette styling... way ahead of its time...

And the band Riggs wrote a really cool song called Radar Rider for the movie Heavy Metal and in the video there's a classic Vette, not sure the year but it has the coves...

Yeah, I've always thought 58-60 Corvettes were the best classic body design and after hand sanding mine, prepping it for paint I realized that there is not one flat section on the entire car. It's like sanding an egg.

My car was restored in the early 90's and also has single stage lacquer paint (before it was discontinued). RM had to make 3 different batches before the color was right. Signet Red is a 1 year color and is really not the typical fire engine red, less than a 1000 made. I've never really used any products on it except for a quick detail wax and the car has only been washed a few times.

I will post some pictures, maybe an avatar....if I can figure it out.
