Hey everyone my name is Michael and I thought I would quickly introduce myself to all of you.

I am 23 and soon graduating in Master of Architecture. However, my friends all know that I have an undeniable passion for cars, automotive design, and detailing! When I am not slaving away building models or CADing on the computer, I prefer to spent my spare time cleaning and detailing my car.

I currently have a silver 05 WL Holden Statesman which I have been detailing by hand. Over the last week I have been surfing the Autogeek forums and quite interested in making the switch to a DA polisher.

Here's a pic from my last hand detail :)

Anyway I am really glad that I found this amazing site and looking forward to getting to know all you guys. I will be asking lots of questions, most likely about polisher/pads so hopefully you could help me out...

Thanks guys

Hello and welcome, be sure to check out the Griots 6".

Welcome William to the crazy, fung-qua world of detailing. Spend most of my time in Beijing, where detailing is NOT done to any great detail...a lot of rags, and poor habits...so it is swirl-city Capital for almost ANY clean car.

The Griots DA advised above is great, along with their red and orange pads. And Autogeek has all these and more great products. Actually sooo much it can be overwhelming. You may have limitations on prods there, but best counsel I can offer is get a line of products you can use, master the basics of course, and master the technique of DOING things right before jumping around from product to product. Your DA oribital will start you off getting a great finish that your group will stare at in envy. Best of luck on it all...:props:

Hi Michael,
Welcome to the Autogeek Forum. Everyone has their favorite type of polisher, but I agree with Finemess on his choice. The Griot's 6".

Hi,
Its cool to see other members from HK again!
Btw I didnt know Holden is available here..
definitely a rare and cool car on the road!

Welcome!! How is everything over there with the Nuke reactor. Did they get it contained? I haven't seen anything on the news here for a while now!

Car looks great for detailing by hand! You will find these forums very helpful!

Thanks all for the warm welcome and advice, much appreciated!

The Griot's 6" was actually my first choice, but I was thinking about getting the Meguiar's G220v2 as it is readily available in Hong Kong and I might benefit from warranty and other related issues. Is there any major differences or benefits in the Griot's over the G220v2?

...detailing is NOT done to any great detail...a lot of rags, and poor habits...so it is swirl-city Capital for almost ANY clean car.

so true! most of these shops employ people who have no passion and don't really care about what they are doing, my dad sent his brand NEW car over for a detail and came back with SCRATCHES! that's why I want to learn the correct techniques and habits so I can detail all my own cars properly.

It sure is great to meet fellow HK members on here! actually I have been studying in Australia for ages, but I will most likely make my return to Hong Kong after I graduate (need to bring all my products back as well!) So yeh, the Statesman is not very rare, but a very cool car nonetheless :P
