As for the DA, I do not own one, and I do not know what the other fellow would use. The Flex 3401 is definitely capable of delivering the results. Im not sure what a PC would do though.

That chip looks pretty deep, I think it would be asking too much of Ceriglass or any glass polish to cut the glass down to that level. That one needs a resin fill maybe?
 
Can someone explain the difference between the Lake Country Glass Cutting Pad and Lake Country Glass Polishing Pad? Also, when to use each.

From one of the Diamondite thread that Mike wrote, it seems like he used the Cutting Pad 1st and followed up with the Polishing Pad 2nd (makes sense to me). Can a Yellow or Orange LC pad be substituted for the GPP or is the HyrdroTech Cyan better because it keeps the product on the glass and not soaks it up into the pad?

They have been discontinued and I am pretty confident that the glass polishing pad would take out my light residual swirling which was caused by the glass cutting pads. Or if anyone else has other insight please let me know. Refer to my thread here:

It is not going to help much with a chip like that. Best you can do is have that filled so it doesn't start cracking or have the shield replaced.

I believe you could probably substitute the cyan for a yellow or orange pad without issue. Do a test area and try it out.

Have you tried a foam cutting pad with ceriglass to finish?

Any firm foam pad you have should do it I think. I used cyan HT but I think Orange would work. You could try a test spot and see what kind of results you can achieve before duplicating the results if you are happy with them.

the retail site says it's backordered and it has been for a long time. i know the first post is old but did they ever revise that pad? i ask because i can't see how it would last at all doing glass work considering what i experienced and i see Frank20 is asking for one...

I asked Eric Dunn about these and he says they are discontinued.

I think he told me he has a new pad for me to test, I'll check with him.

Doing a Test Spot on paint is really important and even MORE important when working on glass and especially when you're trying to remove below surface defects, not simply topical gunk or topical staining/water spots.


Also, NEVER test on the section of glass the driver looks through while driving.

On my Post #14 I refer to the GCP being hard and not flexible and installing some scratches, and on the opening thread I explain that I did most of the work with the GPP. Although I had to do 5 passes with the GPP I feel that it's the best pad to work on Glass.

The problem is that I barely managed to finish my windshield before it got delaminated and that they are discontinued. (maybe this could be the reason why).

I also tried a LC HT Cyan pad and and in my case it left some haze, but I think it would be your best alternative if you cannot find a GPP.

Or wait for the new pad that Mike is referring to.

Just my brief advice and comments since I posted this review to begin with.

Please also read the extensive review that Corey (CEEDOG) has posted on Ceriglass. A ton of info there.

Thanks for your response theo. I'll be trying one of my firm orange pads on a DA on thursday. Hopefully I see some results.

And mike please be sure to update us with any information regarding this new pad.

What kind of DA will you be using ? I have a feeling that any other DA except the Flex 3401 or a step up to a Rotary simply and literally won't "cut" it.... The glass I mean...

Well I do own a flex 3401 but I only have 6.5" pads for it which I don't think will be small enough to get the spot on my glass that needs the correction. I was going to try it with my friends GG DA. If not then i'll try again with my corded drill and my orange 4" pad.
 
I was a little disappointed and shocked to see that the Lake Country glass pads were no longer available. I'd really like to see if their foam pads will work.
