I normally hit the pad with a couple of squirts and then clean the pad on the fly. Am I doing it wrong?
I would think this is quite dangerous - unless you are SURE you have rinsed out all the pad cleaner before applying more polish and continuing to use the pad. leaving a solvent in/on the pad with the polish probably doesn't do good things for it's application, depending on the product.
Mike's recommendation is a terrycloth towel for DA polishers - check out the "cleaning on the fly" write up he did.
When I am finished with my pad for the day, I use 4-5 sprays of the XMT cleaner and let it sit for about two minutes. Then I use a garden hose and a fingernail brush to clean the pad before rinsing, squeezing out and allowing them to air dry.
