My Dad's 60th Birthday/Christmas present

What a great story!

Awesome that you are in a position to do such a thing for your father.

the good Lord will bless you my boy! always remember he wiped your rear when you couldnt. keep this thread alive and let us know how he reacted to the surprise.

If I can speak from the other side of the fence, I did the same thing-sold my 13,000 mile '77 'Vette to boost the downpayment on our first house. I made the decision and never turned back. I would be absolutely floored and speechless if another 'Vette turned up in my garage one morning. The color, year or transmission would make no difference, as it's truly the thought that counts.
Vette or not, I'm sure your dad is extremely proud of the son he raised.

It stories like these that really sets us into the holiday spirit. Your dad will probably, hopefully not, faint from the overwhelming joy of not only getting the vette but also because its from you , and you remembered and appreciate the sacrifices he made. :) A true heart warming story.

Great story thanks for sharing, I know he will be one happy guy

Very cool! I sold my vette to build our first house twenty years ago with the promise of

"we'll get you another one honey after the house is built". Lol no vette yet but I don't

regret selling it. It's those kid of sacrifices that make us dads. Good for you and your dad!

I would love to see video or even read a follow up story on how it went.

Ok, well there has been an update, and it didn't go as planned. I was keeping the Vette at my uncles house until christmas, so I could avoid dad seeing it...well my Aunt (who I can't stand) got in a fight with my uncle and she called and left a message on my parents answering machine saying she wants the vette gone. My dad heard it, and figured it out. I came over and he spilled the beans. I took him to pick it up, and he was absolutely bowled over. He was speechless, and all teary eyed (which NEVER happens to my dad). Sorry I couldn't get a video for you guys, and even more sorry I couldn't present it on Christmas day, but the reaction was every bit what I wanted and more.

Man your aunt sucks!!!! But I'm glad he liked the vette. This is definitely a feel good story for the holidays. You're a good dude for doing this for your dad. Even though you didn't get any video, take some pics with him and the new ride.

Dad

On a bright note, the gift to your Dad is more than a gift, it's a dream and not only because of the content but because of your generosity, kindness, and love. Great Dads are many times hard to find but on the rare occasion when you do come across one you'll find they're very special. I'm so glad you have one.....

Merry Christmas

Aunt

  1. She's off the Christmas Card list
  2. Send her a broom with a key
  3. He name is stricken from the town census
  4. Her name will never again be spoken
  5. Send her some Ex-lax and depends
  6. Have toilet paper printed with her face on each sheet

Wow your aunt does suck. She really had to do something like that knowing it was your gift to your father?? like really? Well I'm glad he was happy with it. Your an awesome son!

WOW, your aunt is a "special" kind of person isn't she!!!

Well, she blew the delivery but nothing will nor can ever change the gift and future memories that you and your Dad will have with and in the car...

5 Days!?!?!?! Aww man!!!!!! Well atleast you got the reaction you were hoping for.... and on the bright side.... she helped solve the dilema of how to sneak it to him.... she didnt spill the beans... she kicked the can all over the kitchen!!!

I agree 100%.

I was out riding around with the old man all day yesterday. I honestly don't think I've seen him smile that much in years. Overall, I would have paid twice as much to get that reaction. I'll get some pics of him with the car within the next few days.

That's awesome man...it really is! This has my vote for "most kind act on AGO of the year award."

This is a great thread! Glad to hear your Father was happy with his gift

You should forgive your Aunt. She's obviously a miserable person

some people are beyond being forgiven. You can forgive them but they insist on living their life in a bitter, miserable state. My mom, love her to death, is that way.

I have pity for ppl who live this way

I treat them with a smile and a warm thought and find alot of the times I can get to what it is that has them in this condition

I don't have pitty...I'm at a point where I just shake my head because she doesn't want to listen to anyone.
