in a way it was...

her fossil watch has been abused. i've had it under a polisher a few times, and even sanded on it at one point, but didnt quite turn out as well as i hoped.

so i made an order for some special sand paper... and when it arrived i took her watch, went to the garage and returned with...

a new Kenneth Cole ceramic watch.

my attempt to pass off my skills with sand paper failed, as the watch turned out to be a different color, brand, style and had a few too many links.

but she was happy

Great story...before I read the thread the title made me think of Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff..."parents...they just don't understand!"
