In the art of detailing, the spotlight is generally on how to achieve a flawless finish that's worthy of a show car. The most common questions are which polisher to buy, what type of polish or compound to use, pad type, etc. While they all play a critical role in achieving the end result, shiny paint that's free of swirls and scratches, the steps needed to maintain your new-found flawless, swirl-free paint are often overlooked. Once you have achieved your goal of paint that's free of swirls and scratches, every product you use from there on out will determine whether or not your paint will remain swirl-free. With a little bit of knowledge and some quality car care products, you can maintain the show-car look of your daily driver for years to come.

Put away the Surbuf pads and your bottle of Meguiar's 105 because I'm going to show you one of many products available that will making caring for your new-found, swirl-free paint effortless.

With so many different towels and tools available to aid in the drying process after washing, how do you know which one to choose? The most effective means of preventing swirls and scratches is to avoid touching the paint altogether, and products like the Metro Master Blaster certainly make that possible. While the Master Blaster is something that's sought after by most and admired by all, you can still get away with safe drying by using a quality microfiber towel, such as the Waffle Weave Guzzler by Cobra. Granted, it's not the same as two twin-fan 4.0 motors delivering a peak of 8.0 horsepower blasting warm, filtered air at over 58,000 feet per min, a Guzzler is the next best option for safe drying.

The Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler features only the highest quality Korean microfiber that goes through a unique manufacturing process to ensure that it meets the quality standards of a Cobra towel. As part of this manufacturing process, the microfiber goes through a splitting machine to make what's called "ultra microfiber". Ultra microfiber is found in every Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler drying towel because it's the softest, most plush type of microfiber available at any cost. No corners were cut in the design of the Waffle Weave Guzzler and that includes the borders, which are super soft so they won't scratch even the most delicate of painted finishes.

The Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler is available in sizes Regular, Supreme, and Ultimate. To be a little more specific, the sizes are 16" x 24", 20" x 40" and 28" x 44".

Quality is in the details, and the Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler are no exception. Most towels feature a tag that's sewn on, but Cobra microfiber towels utilize a tag that's glued on so it can easily be removed. If you have a tag that's sewn on, you risk the chance of tearing the edge when you remove it.

You should always remove the tag before using your Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler.

The 16" x 24" Guzzler is the perfect drying towel for small to midsize vehicles. If you have a large truck or SUV it also works well as a dedicated drying towel for your windows.

With it's unique design, the Cobra Guzzler can absorb up to seven times its weight in water.

The Supreme Guzzler, measuring 20" x 40" can easily dry a midsize vehicle without needing to be wrung out.

I fold the towel four ways to make it a more manageable size. As the towel becomes saturated I simply fold it over to a dry side and continue drying.

The Ultimate Guzzler measures a massive 28" x 44" which makes it the definitive drying towel for large trucks or SUVs. The Ultimate Guzzler also features sewn-in pockets so you can easily handle the towel which totals a whopping 10 1/2 square feet.

I love my Cobra towels, might have something to do with a Cobra obsession............lol

Just don't use them if you plan on doing a spray wax/sealant while drying. They end up not guzzling so well after that.
I have the new ones now so I will keep them sealant/wax free.:)

Love the guzzler, but I wish you would go back to silk edges. I know the new edges do not mar, but something feels great about silk.

I really like the removable tags in the cobras some sow them in with the boarder and I don't care for that

The Cobra Waffle Weave Guzzler features only the highest quality Korean microfiber.......

As per your norm....Excellent write-up/review, Nick!!!

The "Korean-factors" shown here are the main reasons I will be purchasing any one of, or more, of these drying towels.

IMO...If a person is in pursuit of waffle weave drying towels, these are the ones to capture.

:)

i have two of the supreme guzzlers and use them for every wash. i hear they last a long time.

Great review! I like Cobras' GLUED on tag vs. the sewn on tags on most towels.

What are the pockets for?

To hold like in the above picture?

That's one of the many benefits of going with a Cobra towel. :)

Thank you Nick!

For being so kind, and just for you (I believe you'll catch my drift :)):

I feel that ingeniously crafted items, such as these Cobra towels, deserve (even though it may seem out of context here) a quote from one of the all-time great geniuses....

Once I learned how to use them, the results were amazing. Seems the more you use them the better they get!

Like a fine wine, Cobra Guzzlers only get better with age. :)

I still have the original 20" x 40" from when I started at Autogeek. I'll have to grab some pictures of it this weekend. It's still going strong. :righton:

Great review Nick, you caught my attention with these.I used to be a fan of the Cobra Guzzler HD but noticed the absorption fall off rather quick with usage/age.I then went back to my old favorite:Adams Great White Drying Towel.
I wonder how these compare?

Ditto man, would Autogeek like to do a return? I give you my old one and you give me a new one? You guys would be awesome.

I've found the Cobra Guzzler HD needs a little more of a break in period when compared to the regular Guzzler towels. After about ten uses and multiple washes with a high-quality microfiber detergent, it gulps water better than ever.

I'm not familiar with the Adams Great White Drying Towel because I've never felt the need to find something that works better than a Guzzler. :dblthumb2:

So long as you've taken proper care of the towel, it should last years. As with any other microfiber towel, you want to use a dedicated microfiber detergent. :props:
