About Ductless
------------------------------------
Ductless Mini-split systems are popular in Europe and Asia. They are similar to conventional central air systems in that an indoor air handler is connected to an outdoor condensing unit. They are different though in that each room has its own air handler that is connected to the compact outside unit by flexible refrigerant lines; there is no ductwork required. The installation is a breeze only requiring a 3" hole in the wall to pass the copper tubing, communication/power wiring and condensation drain hose. Some Ductless Mini-split system can even function at lower outdoor ambient temperatures.

I think I will LOVE this unit, especially in the summer. It is a small Air Handling Unit, but it heated up my small 2 car garage (400 sqft). It was a cold day for us, low 40's. I have emptied the garage.. I was cleaning baseboards in prep for Race Deck type flooring and Gladiator Premeir Cabinets. Before long I was sweating. I turned the unit down to 68 and stopped sweating. MY garage isnt insulated yet so I didnt expect this. I will arrange for insulation tomorrow. Mrs. OT wouldnt let me take Before Pics until I emptied the garage. Said it would be like taking photos of a dirty bathroom! I will have her take pics this week.

Very cool Jim....glad you got some heat and air. Did you do the install yourself?

Can't wait to see some pics!

Sounds like quite a system Jim, can't wait for the next phase!! :props:

Sounds like heaven in a garage. Please post lots of pictures!

Sounds great Jim the Fujitsu units are great I've used them before and like you say they are easy to install inside and out . You can buy the preformed base slabs and not have to worry about framing out a base and mixing up some concrete .

No Tim, I found a licensed HVAC man who installed t and sold me the unit. He will do warranty work if needed. I got it turnkey for a lot less than the first quote last year. It took him and his helper about 4 hours. They had to run 220V outside. Well worth it to me. I wouldnt call it a breeze with 8 manhours required.

I am glad you finally got the ductless system...at a better price. If you haven't ordered the Race Deck yet send me a pm for a discount deal I know of.

Somebody needs to skool me on Race Deck type flooring. What are the ramifications if you use a lot of water in the garage? Doesn't it seep under the flooring?

When I start the Garage Mahal makeover in the Spring I expect to go with an epoxy floor coating. Large drains in the flooring ought to make squeegeeing a breeze. I don't know how Race Deck and winter crud would coexist either...

Water will drain out from under the tiles with the slope of the floor. I don't have an in floor drain but any water just drains out of the bay with the pitch of the slab. My tiles solid and not the slotted type that would allow more gunk to fall under the tiles. With mine, anything that makes its way under is out of sight out of mind.

The watere will drain or evaporate according to Snap-Lock, the OEM for Race Deck and my tiles. Made to hold 44000 pounds. I would use plywood or steel plate to distribute pressure for a jackstand or the like.

Ed is right per the OEM.
