Its been awhile since I've posted due to the fact I have been very busy with cars.
The owner of this mercedes called me and asked if I could "fix" his car. He started to tell me that he took it to mercedes and payed $550 to get it detailed. Nonetheless , they hammered his car. This mercedes had a VERY soft clear coat, it was very hard to finish down with inducing micro marring with the final wipe of the mf towel. I ALSO GOT NEW TIRES WHICH WERE HIGH SPEED BALANCED PUT ON BECAUSE THE OLD TIRES WERE SHOWING THREAD IN THE REAR. now, onto the process. i also wet sanded a few scratches out.

PROCESS:
WASH WITH DAWN SOAP AND APC PLUS
CLAY WITH MEGS AGGRESSIVE CLAY AND ONR AS CLAY LUBE
CLEAN WHEELS WITH APC PLUS AND VARIOUS WHEEL BRUSHES
MEGS UNIGRIT SAND PAPER WITH MEGS SANDING BLOCK.
DEWALT ROTARY WITH MEGS SOLO CUT WOOL PAD
LC ORANGE, WHITE, BLACK, AND RED PADS
MENZERNA POWER GLOSS
MEGS M105
MENZERNA SIP
MEGS 205
MENZERNA PO85RD
LOTS OF MF TOWELS
WOLFGANG DEEP GLOSS 3.0
TOOTH PICKS
POPSICLE STICKS
STEAM MACHINE
OPTIMUM PROTECTANT PLUS
OPTIMUM POWER CLEAN
HALOGEN SHOP LIGHTS
GRIT GAURD PAD CLEANER
AND 40 HRS OF MY TIME

SO, AS I WAS DOING MY TEST SPOT, I TRIED OUT POWER GLOSS WITH THE ROTARY USING MEGS SOLO CUT WOOL PAD AND IT WASNT WORKING OUT FOR ME SO I TRIED OUT M105 AND IT DID A BETTER JOB.
I THEN TRIED OUT M205 ON A WHITE PAD AND IT FINISHED DOWN PRETT BAD STILL LEAVING HOLOS BEHIND SO I SWITCHED OVER TO SIP WHICH FINISHED DOWN ALOT BETTER BUT STILL HAD ALOT OF SWIRLS LEFT BEHIND. I FURTHER REFINED MY PROCESS WITH MENZERNA PO85RD ON A BLACK PAD VIA ROTARY WHICH LEFT ME WITH A FLAWLESS FINISH, NO SWIRLS, AND NO HOLOGRAMS. THIS CAR WAS VERY TIME CONSUMING BUT FUN.
NOW SOME PICTURES.

I am excited for the afters. BTW, I'd blur out the customer's license plate

Fantastic job! Just remove their license plate from the first post! I love black that is done properly

Over 500 for a detail that came out like that? I'd like to think my 'bad ones' didn't look that bad.

Good job of resurecting that paint.

And you blurred the plate so good, it looks like it isn't even there, lol.

Excellent work on that Mercedes. That car was in bad shape for sure, nice job.

Wow you made that car look amazing. That paint was in poor shape before you got your hands on it. I love the reflections!

very nice work,i dont know how someone could have looked at that and thought" yeah this is perfect work for 550$" granted the guys doing the work dont get even 1/4 of that so thats probably why. maybe i need to go to the higher end dealers here and see if i can get some contract work for the cars their detailers would ruin LOL. if i owned a dealership there would be no wool pads for the detailers to use.and im suprized there is a mobile tire service, i find that awesome because some are stuck with no way to get tires changed as its only transportation or are at work ect. really great idea there, never seen that before and looks like they do a great job as the wheels are not marred at all. good tire guys dont mar wheels, bad tire guys do and dont care. seen one shop that used no protective pads on the tire mounting machine and i could see the rim getting scraped to crap....

Very Good turn around James!

Did you arrange the mobile tire service? Thats a neet Idea.

the mobile tire service is owned by a good friend of mine. he beats any price on tires locally. i mark up the servive 50 bucks always.

I'm so sorry for calling out the wrong name Joel ! That is a cool idea of mobile tire service......glad that you have a friend doing it.....and your able to make a little money off it...again a great job!

yes vellie, the clear coat was very soft and i had to get to some RIDS that the dealer cause when he took his car to get detailed by them. I also wet sanded a few scratches out and did a head light restoration on it.

Im doing one of these Friday for a friend in Miami Beach and using a PC and the paint is the same without the RIDS. I will see how it turns out. What pad do you suggest on a PC. Was thinking about starting out with a white since the clear is soft like you said and maybe UC or so
