Strong Easy to Apply Leather Cleaner

I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for you entire seats, but a couple of days ago my wife got some blue permanant marker on a tan leather seat in her 2011 Murano. I tried some leather cleaner and Optimum Power Clean (up to full strength) with absolutely no improvement. I then tried some rubbing alcohol, and it did the trick. I was very careful and as gentle as I could be because I've read that it can remove the coating on the leather or discolor it. It took a little time, but you can't notice any difference from the rest of the leather.

Hey Rasky, that seat turned out great. Did you use much product when cleaning those? Like I said in my earlier post I used an entire foam pump canister on the car I worked on. I don't mind paying $15 for a good leather cleaner but if I can achieve the same results with less product from the same company then obviously that's the way to go when doing more than one car.

I have both traditional bottles and foam pump bottles but I like the foam ones better. They last me quite a while actually but I only use them on well cared for or newer seats. If a car comes in with trashed leather I'll use OPC and follow it up with LM stuff.

Try applying the cleaner with foam applicators like the blue ones you see in there kits...that seems to spread the product much further. Wipe it off with a clean MF/cotton towel or even paper towels (good ones like Bounty).
 
Megs is coming out with a new leather cleaner, I am going to pick some up when it is available.
 
My partner has a 2011 Subaru Outback with beige interior. Twice a year I thoroughly clean the leather with Megs APC and agitate lightly before wiping down to remove excess followe with a wet towel to remove remaining residue. I then follow this with Wolfgang Leather Conditioner. Between major cleanings, I use Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer everytime I wash the car.
 
Thanks for the responses everyone. Those pics helped me decide, since mine look just as filthy. Ordered some leather master, hopefully I'll only have to use the leather master a few times a year and use another cleaner for general upkeep (that will last a little longer). Thanks again. I'll post up my results when I get a chance.

For what it is worth, if you are going to do it, do it the right way with Leatherique. If your seats are not all that bad you may even get away with just using Prestine Clean.

I recently did a 2009 Subaru Liberty, same beige colour as yours, here is a 50/50. It was done with the Rejuvenator Oil and then Prestine Clean.

Those are actually the exact same seats I have. The liberty is the legacy in Australia. If it wasn't so damn cold and snowy up here in the NE I'd give the full leatherique a try. Don't think I'll be able to get much heat in the car out in the sun to get the rejuvenator to work. Fortunatly my seats aren't nearly that bad, picked up a bottle of the leather masters to try since its cheap and quicker to use than the rejuvenator. I'll see how far that gets me and go from there. Again thanks for all the suggestions and pics. Hopefully I can try it out sometime next week.
 
The Leather Master foam cleaner showed up today. Used the whole bottle doing the seats in my Legacy and my mom's Explorer. Most noticeable on the explorer seats. Car has over 100k miles and the seats were only cleaned a few times. Compared the Wolfgang cleaner I already had to the new Leather Master stuff, and the Leather Master definitely took more filth off the seats. The key was really the leather brush I ordered as well. Really easy to get the crud off when you can gently scrub the surface.

Only gripes I had was that the Leather Master had an odd smell to it and made my hands tacky (might have been all the grime coming off the seats though). The bottle also didn't last very long. Overall it did exactly what I needed of it. Ill probably reserve the Leather Master to a few times a year and use something else for general maintenance/upkeep.

Drew, thanks for the update. I also just used almost a whole bottle of LM Strong (non pump) on my wife's 2011 Ford Edge. I still have 2 other cars to do so I am not sure what I am going to use.

I previously used diluted APC+ on the other cars. I am still on the fence as to if APC+ is too strong for leather or not. I have been watching this thread and searching other threads hoping for ideas.
