My DA polisher and all of the goodies are coming later this week. If I have time Sunday I will detail the whole car. I bought the car full of swirl marks and tried removing them with SwirlX by hand, that didn't work. I know how much work goes into removing swirls, so I would like to keep them off of the car as long a possible.

From now on I will use the Two bucket method, which I was not using before. Other than this I usually just use a wash mitt and go to town. Working from the roof down.

What do you guys do to keep the swirls off of you car? Also whats the average amount of time it takes for them to come back? My car is a non garaged daily driver.

Thanks Everyone! I am excited on my soon to arrive Griots DA polisher

I use paint coatings, they are more resistant to swirls that waxes and sealants.

good washing and drying techniques ... often the two areas where swirls are added and paint finish damaged most.

I put a scarecrow in the back seat. It freaks the swirls out and they won't come near my car.

Lots of buckets, grit guards, quality soap, quality mitts, quality mf, a garage, don't let people near the car...

Also, never wash it and never touch it will work.

Killrwheels could you elaborate more? My technique has always been to do one body panel at a time. Im switching to the two bucket method with a grit guard.

So basically it happens to the best of us as well? How often can we polish to remove them before we hurt the finish?

I can say that we have been servicing fleets on a regular basis (monthly) and have a few clients that we service weekly to by weekly for the past year and a half now and we use EcoSmart (now carried by AG). There are no induced swirl marks from the past year and a half..... it even shocks me all the time. Then again these cars are getting this product applied very regularly - here are some pics of these customer cars ....... sorry no close up pics (been shooting pics more for the customer eye rather than for other detailers). The tire and rim are the closest paint pic LOL - but I will take same up close pics next week for the forum.

Wow those cars look great! I will look into that product. Is it like a quick detailer?

Thanx man - they stay slick and are cake to clean every week. Somewhat like a quick detailer... the product is an AIO cleans, waxes, seals.

Yes sir

Wow! Mr. Drywash is back. Where you been B&B?

LOL - Been busy running a detailing company lol - how have you been man?!?!?

If you decide to go that route, pm me or toss me a call and I'll walk you through the do's and don'ts with this product. A bit tired to list them all right now - and I must say the product is a pain to work with under around 45 degrees. Other than that - it is my go to product for B & B.

Scarecrows are for squirrels not swirls

Yes, and keep your wash media clean (machine wash after use, etc). The never washing works really well, along with never waxing. Never washing means no swirls from wash media and drying towels, and never waxing means no beading so no water spots.

It's tough to keep a daily driver looking perfect. Every time you rub the car with something while washing, drying, waxing, quick detailing, etc., you run the risk of marring. Best defense is, as noted above, use good technique, quality and clean media, and keep the car LSP'd so less stuff sticks and it's easy to wash off.

Holy crap that stuff is expensive...I guess in the gallon at the "sale" price it's not much more than Opti-Clean, but it's still way more than UWW.

I always estimate around 50 cents to 75 cents a car when bought by the gallon concentrate. Im really hoping AG gets that size - Id much rather buy it here to support the forum usage! Just ordered some yesterday :/
