One of my clients stopped by last weekend with a new set of Vossen wheels for his white C6. He wanted some long term protection for them and what better to use than Optimum's Opti-Guard(Coat) :props:

Applied via airbrush to the faces and foam applicator in the barrels. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics...didn't have my SLR with me. :(

Wheels have a matte black center, gloss black lip, and a machined pin stripe. The Opti-Guard added a very subtle sheen to the matte finish which the owner was very happy with.

Can't wait to see them on the car when she comes back in this spring. :)

Thanks for looking,

Coouhl! Nice results, Chad. I like what OC did for the matte finish.

Is the airbrush (and your steady hand) precise enough to apply to the wheels without masking the rubber? Never used an airbrush, I'm still looking for an el-cheapo for single-use on honeycomb grills.

It's a pretty tight spray pattern (and adjustable) so I don't think you really need to worry too much about a little over spray on the rubber. You could always apply some dressing before hand to keep it from sticking to the rubber too.

Nice!

Seems like you've dialed in your air brush/compressor settings...

I'll be reaching out to you sooner than later to pick your brain.

Thanks Jason! I've still only used it a few times but I've had a lot more luck using the .5mm tip and running it at 40psi. It works great for small intricate details but would not work well for a full panel. I'm looking to get a mini-gun for doing a whole car eventually. :props:

Nicely done Chad!!! I'm also curious as to whether the OC/OG made the finish more shiny.

I can't wait to see it on the C6.

Thanks Marc!

It did add a very subtle sheen to the matte black, but the gloss added to the already glossy black was not really noticeable, though I wasn't looking for it either...I do feel OG adds a sort of glassy look to paint though per previous vehicles I've applied it too. :props:

Nice job I really like the way the matte black turned out. Without the OC I think they would get a little shiny in spots as the finish wears some so I think the OC will do a great job of preserving a uniform matte finish.

I've been looking at airbrushes for OC application for a while now and narrowed it down to a few I think would work well. Plus I'm looking at one for applying other products. As soon as I get my tax return I'll probably order an airbrush to work with.

Chad - how long does this last and does it offer scuff protection? what exact is the extent of the protection when put on a wheel?

Those look like Toyo Proxies ... didnt think they made 'em in that size.

Very cool. I would like to use Opti-Guard on my wheels too.

Cmon' Spring!!
