This is on my inlaws 05 Jag. It was clayed and sealed in the fall. While claying I noticed these marks. Primarily on front half of the hood, little bit on top part of front quarters. Random orientation. A fingernail does not catch. Hopimg it's not CC failure.

Looks like laquer checking...which is a form of paint failure. Are there particularly hot parts under where the damage is? Has the hood been repainted? Are all thermal blankets or heat shields in place under the hood? Of course black does get the hottest in the sun, but at your latitude I wouldn't think that was it.

That cars been repainted. Your clear is failing. It will only get worse from this point forward

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Heat shields are in place. Some failure is over the radiator, there is nothing hot at all near the quarter panels. You do bring up a good point, there is much less failure where the heat shields are.

Well the news could be worse, it could be my car. Now I just have to break it to the inlaws.

Thanks guys!
