Chemical Guys Hybrid V7 - It's Here and it Impresses

So is this better than the Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray?

Both perform equally well, but I find the Blackfire shine tough to beat. I think you will start seeing the "fast flash" technology incorporated into more quick detail sprays/spray sealants in the future as it makes them fool proof.

So a spray sealant on steroids? Would this outlast Blackfire's Crystal Seal?

Blackfire Crystal Seal is a stand alone spray sealant, so it's going to have an advantage in terms of durability.

I'll have to pick some up..
Did anyone else beside me cringe a little when that nice towel was on the wheels?

I only use the best on Max's car. :dblthumb2:

BTW, I want to get some of this but am trying to hold out on placing an order until I come down for Detail Fest. Any chance you guys will still have this in stock, or do you think it will be on back order by then?

So long as Chemical Guys can supply us, which I'm confident they can, you'll be able to pick up V7 in both 16 and 128 ounce sizes when you're down here for Detail Fest. :righton:

Nick

I am glad to see you finally pulled Max's vette out and got it clean. During Boot Camp, I wanted to sneak back there and show it some love.

May have to try this one at some point. I have the Blackfire sealant to try first.

I love the label though, very slick.

But be warned, this product can streak from applying too much and also cooler outside temps.

I just wanted to add something here, when I applied Hybrid V7 I applied it to bare paint which is something else that could cause the streaking. When applying it over existing protection you shouldn't see streaks.

Any word on when gallon will be available?

Robert,

We have about twenty gallon size Chemical Guys products in stock, and they will be available on the site later this weekend if not first thing Monday.

If you're waiting on something in particular, give me a call and I can take your order over the phone.

What does the manufacturer say about Durability ??? Since it's new how long will it last ???

Does anybody know how comparable V7 is to DoDo Red Mist Tropical?
Looks like a great product.

Red Mist is great too and a little goes a long way. With HV7 you can use it as a daily QD if you wish or use it as a drying aid. I usually reserve Red Mist for a special boost on a clean car...much like I do BF Poly Spray. All of these are "comparable" and all 3 are excellent.

Or maybe it's part of AG's master plan: trying to subtly influence us to demote our good towels downwards so we buy more towels! I, for one, am not that easily fooled, sir! :nomore:Im the MAN

:D

:iagree:

I have been using this for about 5 months now and I really like it. I also have Optimum Instant Detailer but when I want a nice shine and a slick finish this is my favorite. It doesn't dilute like Optimum so obviously more costly but a gallon will still last for a while.

I have wanted this one since intro ... cannot wait to test it. I love sprays.

Waxmax: Would you mind please telling me exactly how you would use it as a drying aid? Spray on WW towel, then blot? Wipe? Spray on panel the blot (or wipe)? Also, how 'dry' do you think the panel should be beforehand? Would it be wasteful to apply if the panel is pretty damp?

Thanks -

I typically do "no rinse" washes, and with a panel still wet, I'll either spray the panel with a little HV7 or some QD, then dry it.

When done with the entire car, I may go over it with HV7 or QD as well.

It's ok to use while panel is damp and it actually aids by adding lubricity in the drying process so your towel doesn't accidentally leave behind any nasties. I've been using V7 since it's inception and find it's the best of any QD I've used.

Thanks, Erich. I get that it's a barrier b/w the towel and paint, but will you get the same 'POP' and sealant (to the degree that is actually true) effect when used as a drying aid, or will those benes really come from applying to a dry surface? This stuff is not cheap :p

Right I gotcha, best way to use IMO is on a dry surface to get max effect. It is expensive to just use as a drying aid.

That's exactly the way I was looking at it. For the price of V7, might as well use a cheaper OTC drying aid, if any. Personally, I almost never 'wipe' when drying and just blot.

Thanks vm. I'll save my V7 for delivering the post dry 'pop.

I can't wait to use it--I just ordered it with the free shipping. We'll see how it looks over Blacklight/Souveran :)
