How much would you charge????

I told a buddy of mine I would detail his car for him. Said I'd charge him $100 bucks. But he thinks its too much. Heres what I would do

Automatic Car Wash
Hand Dry
Clay Bar
Wolfgang Polish Enhancer by hand (dont own machine)
Wolfgang Fuzion Wax by hand
Tire Dressing
Rain X windows

What do you think? Should I charge more or less? Thanks
 
That is a little much. I mean honestly thats like a hour of work for me.
 
Yeah, that's a little expensive IMO.

I mean, you're using an expensive wax, but your prep doesn't really justify topping it with that unless the car is already in great shape.

So im guessing better prep would be using a machine to apply the wax?

My advice would be to spend a little more time browsing here and absorb a little more about detailing before you start charging people. It's more than just having/using a machine, it's about understanding the process/steps.
 
I personally think $75 would be fine. The products/process you're using won't remove any defects, but it will shine nicely. I probably would use a different wax though. Fuzion looks great, but in my experience it doesn't last more than 1.5 months (daily driving).

gotcha. I love this site, been reading it for awhile and finally decided to register. You mention understanding the process/steps. Isn't clay bar, polish, and wax the right steps? Thank again for any info.

I really like it because of the ease of use. It seems to work alright for me, and have read plenty of reviews how it last longer than most waxes. Which would you prefer for durability. Thanks
 
I really like the wipe on/wipe off that Fuzion offers, but I would probably use a sealant rather than a wax. I've seen great durability on my daily driver using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant. Most sealants are very easy to apply/remove.

Cool, thanks for your replies, Ill have to look in to the sealant. Does it take a long to to apply? Like apply and wait 30 minutes, or just wait for a haze to form?

Yes, you're right, my mistake, I suppose you are ready to go in business for yourself.

You might want to rethink the wash part where you run the car through the Swirl-O-Matic, most of the pro detailers here wash the car themselves.

LOL, I dont think I'm ready for any business. And I hope you didn't think I was being smart naming off the steps. I was just making sure I didn't miss anything. I had been thinking about washing it myself, but just thought it would be quicker. Thank again for your help.
 
You havent been reading much if your going to run it through a car wash.
