Hey AG,

I have found two small paint bubbles forming under my paint on the hood of the truck, I believe its from rust coming up from underneath I know that the only real way to have it repaired buy a painter, and thats the plan (or just replacing the hood and having it planted to match) but that won't be this year these are very small ( the size of a pea) ,

My questions are :
1. will it be okay to buff over them or do I need to tape them so as not to buff them

2. are there any steps to minimize or remove ( other than repainting) that I 'm not aware of

any help would be appreciated

i would say to buff around them and not use tape, tape might just have the pulling power thats needed to remove the paint above the bubble, most likely the hood was repainted before and prep work was not done all the way so the bond between the paint and substrate failed. as i said just buff as usual and try to dodge the bubbles, if you go over them the paint could crack and break free and expose the metal panel. good luck, some pictures might help also.
