From Mazdaspeed6 to Ford Edge Sport in a week

For the past, almost, 5 years I've been the owner of a 2007 Mazdaspeed6. The car was a blast and I enjoyed taking care of it and all that good stuff. On February 8th on my way to work I was in an accident that left my speed6 totaled. I am happy to say it did it's job and protected me well and I only walked away with some sprained right toes, minor chest pain (from seat belt and air bag), and a minor case of whiplash.

Travelers insurance deemed my car totaled and within a week were able to cut me a check. In the mean time I had already started looking for my new vehicle. I love a sports car but I also love sitting high and space of an SUV. This is where the Ford Edge Sport comes in. This thing really caught my eye with it's blacked out front grille and 22" stock wheels! It also has a larger engine (3.7L V6) than the regular Edge.

So one week after the accident I became the proud owner of a White 2012 Ford Edge Sport w/ AWD. I don't usually skimp when it comes to add-ons so this has all the bells and whistles. I'm glad I was able to get A-plan pricing and other incentives. Only downside to all this was I had just paid off my speed6 in October and now I'm back into a car payment.

And now after one week of ownership I am glad I got the Edge Sport. The ride is awesome and I couldn't be more happy. All my bumps and bruises have basically healed and I finished going to the chiropractor yesterday.

Well...it's a truck, but at least it doesn't have black wheels (yet). Sorry, I'm from the old school when people drove cars (or heaven forbid, station wagons) and fancy wheels were shiny, not black.

Glad you came out of that wreck ok, it looks terrible in the front pic! Congrats on the new vehicle, it does look nice.
 
no, the eco boost is a 2.0L 4 cylinder. The sport comes with a 3.7L V6. There is also a 3.5L V6 but not an option on sport model.
 
Looks like a nice ride. I am just glad you made it out of the wreck fairly unharmed.

I miss my 07 Mazdaspeed 6, what a fun car to drive. I just wish it had more power.

The Edge sport is a sweet ride, good luck with it.
 
i was thinking of the Flex anyways. sorry about that. seen a video on FB where a tuned Flex took out a modded V6 camero
 
Glad to hear you are OK. I love the Mazda 6 and wanted to buy one before my Fit, but the deal fell through.

I am not super fond of the Edge, however I do like the look of yours. My girlfriend keeps bugging me for us to test drive one, she loves them. If she sees one that looks like yours, I am done for.
 
Wow man. Glad to see your alright. Did you get to keep the car? Sorry if that's a newb question but I don't know what happens when a car is totalled and insurance cuts you a check.
 
No the insurance company takes it. They then sell it or auction it off, they try to get some money back out of it too.
 
Very nice! I believe that's the same V6 that's in my Mustang. Definitely has some juice to it! Congrats on the Edge. It's too bad what happened to the Mazdaspeed6. Those are nice cars. Pains me to see it as a heap of metal.

I've had my Edge for 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. Can't wait for some warmer weather and give it a nice detail.

Glad to hear your okay. The Edge Sport is a pretty cool SUV, and this is coming from a Toyota guy! lol. Love the blacked out grille. Is it a pearl white or just like a super white?
 
I can't see the pics but man...I'm glad you're alive! Sounds like a pretty bad accident...makes me feel lame for crying about my minor rear end collision. Hopefully I'll be able to see the pics when I get home...I'm curious to see it. It sucks you gotta be in a payment now, but congrats on the new ride...its bitter sweet it sounds like.

its called platinum tri-coat white, so much like a pearl.

yeah it does suck to be back in a payment, but it's not terrible since I was able to use the insurance check from my speed6 as a down payment.
