Detail week coming up! need advice!

Hey guys hows it going,

this week coming up i have 3 cars coming to me for detail, (friends and cousins)


one car is 2008 Honda accord in tafetta white paint
other car is 2011 BMW 335i in black paint
and other car is 2008 Accord in blue paint

what products should i use for paint correction?

I currently have Lake country CCS 5.5 inch pads (yellow, orange and blue) and i also have meguiars microfiber correction system (MF pads, and MF compound/polish)

for correction i have as i stated before the megs MF correction system, Megs M105 and M205 , a bunch of samples of wolfgang total swirl remover, and i also have meguiars Ultra compound and Ultra polish.

What would be the best pads/compound/polish to use from personal experiance?

Anything i should order before next week let me know!

the white accord and blue accord i would say is the worst. BUT its just swirl marks, nothing else, no oxidation, deep scratches, etc.

The BMW is also just spider web swirl marks, its a 2011 so its new still ( no scratches or anything of that sort).

This is kind of what I expected and assumed...

So here's how my brain works...

What's changed?

By that I mean, how did the cars get so neglected in the first place and now what's changed to mean that after you do all this hard work it just won't happen again.

If your friends are now passionate enthusiast detailers that are going to help you and then also take care of their cars by NOT taking them through car washes, maintaining the finish etc. then go for it.

If nothing has changed, this means after you do all this hard work these cars are likely just going to go downhill again to the condition they are in now.

That's why I wrote this article about matching your services to your customer. If you're customer's cars are swirled-out messes and nothing has changed and nothing is going to change then,

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. One-step Cleaner/Wax

Done.

Don't do show car detailing, (multiple-step, all day long procedures), to daily drivers for people that can't take care of the results.

Most people don't know the difference between a squirrel and a swirl so just make the swirls shiny.

well I am going to do a paint correction because they want swirls removed, i know how to use the DA machine i have done about 2 cars before but I still want the best advice with the products that i have

and also i will make sure their car will stay swirl free by doing weekly washes

Then that's the thing to do... I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just think about it and it sounds like you've thought about it. :xyxthumbs:

If you have both the Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System and the M105/205 Tag Team, then just do some testing and see which approach works best and fastest.

The Microfiber DA Correction System should be the fastest, easiest approach so do a TEST SPOT using this system first and inspect your results. If they look good on each car then use this system. It works great and offers easy wipe-off.

You can use either cutting pads or polishing pads for the M105, some people even use finishing pads, just depends upon the paint and what you're trying to do.

Flat Pads, either open cell or closed cell work really well but the fact is the pad is the style of pad is less important than good technique.

M205 really needs to be used with either a polishing pad or a finishing pad and if you've used the M105 first and obtained good results then probably a finishing pad.


I tend to like flat pads myself...
