Ahhhh... the Mustang and the Vette. Both are American Icons... but which is better? The answer BOTH! :D

My best buddy and I took the afternoon/day off so we took about a 45 mile cruise over lunch, stopped to get some sushi, then drove some more, and took pictures along the way.

He drives a 2007 Vette vert, in pristine condition (I should know, I helped buff it :)), and I drive, well, it's in my sig ;). Hehe... but we had a great time. If I could have it my way, I'd own both cars in my garage. We ended up switching cars on the ride back, and it was a blast to drive his. Did you folks ever do that? We're always behind the wheel of our own cars, we never get to see or hear our own car driving down the road. It was nice to see how sexy the stangs are haha. But yeah, the vette and the stang, two totally different cars in terms of looks, feel, drive, and symbolism.

But anyways, we had a great time... it was a long time coming. Weather was perfect, and the sushi was GOOD. :)

Here's some pics to chronicle our great afternoon. I'll let you all decide which is America's icon :props:

p.s. for those of you avid detailers, my car is covered in Petes 53, while his was covered in Fuzion, both corrected recently.

Wow, two vette guys saying BOTH are american icons!!! I'll take back what I thought of you vette owners! KIDDING :)

Yeah, I agree, I think both are great in their own right. Both have their pluses, both have their minuses. I really would like to own both. My buddy who owns that has had it since new, 07, but I am slowly trying to convince him to get the new 2013 Shelby GT500's :) He seems partial to the vette's tho ;)

Gotta ask which one did you perfer? I never drove a Bette but drove a friends 5.0 it was very fun.

uh oh... I forgot someone would ask me that, lol. Since my buddy will be reading this, I will be nice :)

They're both totally different cars. But in the end, I love my car. Why? hmmmm... they drive totally different, but just might be a matter of me only driving it for that short 1/2 hour or so, as opposed to owning it for 5 years like he has. Might just have had to get used to it. I loved the open air quality of the vert, so I never drove a stang vert before. But I loved the steering feel of mine, and the fact that it was a stick, might have had better torque feel. I also prefer the Ford v8 burble as opposed to GM's. But IMO, the vette's ride was more compliant (my susp mods maybe the culprit) and less jarring on long stints. And I think the vette hugged the road a tad better, though the new 5.0s are no slouch. But for me the biggest thing is the color! I love my Kona... nothing else like it :)

Pics look great and both are icons for sure and I know this thread isn't about which is best but the first thing that came to mind for me here was the fact how much MORE car you get with the Mustang. Then you look at the Mustang and it just looks like its leaping forward, awesome car! Now I must say I am a Corvette fan (favorite is the mid-years, Goodwood green in particular) but IMO the Corvette is getting long in the tooth with its style that's basically the same thing since 1968. Speaking of that, the 60's gave the Corvette THREE distinct styles and like I said, since 1968 the car really hasn't changed too much other than the pop up lights going away in 2006. I see/read the C7 is going to be much of the same and that's a pity, where's the forsight, where's the passion and my God where's the interior design and seats, a Neon SRT4 shouldn't have better seats than a Corvette but it does, sad!

This thread without some pics of burnouts almost seems sacrilegious.

I'd take a Stang any day over a Vette, to each their own though.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun and awesome pics as usual.:props:

Solid axle FTW.:D
