Hi all,

I decided to finally clean the leather in my car (it's been a long time coming) with OPC (1:5) and had trouble cleaning up the car door armrest on the driver's side. I tried to gently rub it in for like 3-4 minutes and it didn't seem to have any effect (worked fine in all other areas I tried). Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you

try using a soft brush like a horse hair shoe brush to agitate

apparently you can even use OPC full strength on leather but the strongest I've used is 3:1

I also just spray on a terry towel and wipe gently. The nap of the terry towel has more cleaning ability than mf imo.

follow with a damp mf to remove any OPC residue

On tough grime, I like to spray the power clean on the brush bristles and the agitate. For standard cleaning I spray it on the towel. I don't spray it directly on the panel so that it doesn't run.

You can use it straight. Try using a more concentrated dilution, like 3:1. Agitate with a soft bristle brush. Like Tim said, wipe with a damp MF towel to remove any OPC residue. It's good stuff.

Will take a little effort. That is years of ground in dirt and body oils. Do as recommended above.

I feel spraying any cleaner directly onto the bristles will not saturate the bristles nearly enough to clean tough grime. With tough grime, I always spray directly onto the surface, then agitate with a brush.

I agree if you are using a toothbrush or a detailing brush, but I use a short bristled, round head cat grooming brush and I have a foamer trigger sprayer so it works great.

It's like this one only a little bigger head:

Thanks, guys. I ordered a swissvax brush (too bad AG doesn't carry it) and some terry towels, will try it again when I get them.

I have a 3:1 mix and a 1:1 mix both with foamer heads. They actually foam about the same.

Great tip, I never thought of a foamer head. What's your opinion of using at a fine mist? Other than the obvious that it doesn't foam.

I would be really reluctant with using OPC on leather seats because I did and it tool the die out of the leather on me. This stuff is super strong. I used it full strength (on accident).

You can try 3:1 or 1:1 but be careful because I guarantee you that full strength is TOO STRONG!

Thanks for the reply. Have you tried it neat?

I have not thru the foamer. I have been fortunate to not need to go stronger than 1:1.

The only situation where full strength would cause a problem is if you let it run or there has been a redye. runs tend to clean really quickly and it can take some time to get the areas around them as clean...and Power Clean at any-dilution/no-dilution will remove surface dyes.

To the OP: I sent you a PM with a tool that will significantly improve your leather and plastic cleaning efforts. And it's cheap, LOL.

So not safe on re-dyes and not safe where the coating has worn off? I'm I reading this correctly?

It's safe for the leather but will bring off the spray on dye used when leather/vinyl are repaired.
