sonax wheel cleaner

In my opinion sonax wheel cleaner in over rated. Does it work yes. But on well cared for wheels it is not needed. And on hammered wheels there are other options that are just as good if not better and cheaper. Meg's wheel brightener anyone?

Sonax was subpar to me. It is very OVERrated IMHO. I was hesitant to buy a bottle of it because of the hype, so my buddy, Dave, sent me a bottle to try. I tested it out and I am glad that I never bought it. There are much better cleaners out there that are way cheaper and work better. I feel that it is just hyped up because of the so called "Iron removers" in it. Isn't that what every other wheel cleaner is designed to break up?? They're just not cool and don't turn purple.

+1

Sonax is way over hyped. Stick to mothers as it's a very good general wheel cleaner. Mothers cleans just as well as sonax, imo.

That's one of my favorites too. :props: Along with brown royal and if it's really light, Griot's.
I agree 100% Brown Royal is the Alpha & Omega of wheel and tire cleaners and its dilutable too. Full Strength, it will safely remove the dreaded Artillery Fungus from clearcoat too.

I literally almost started a thread about a week about after the Sonax bogo how disappointed I was with the product. Did it clean the wheels? Yes it did, but I've used several more effective wheel cleaners that cost a fraction of what Sonax does. I felt that the Sonax did NOT cling to the wheel very well which led to some product waste, which was unfortunate. The wheels I was working on are over 16 years old and were caked with brake dust and road grime. Even after Sonax application, 4-5 minute dwell time, and agitation with the daytona brush, it was still there! Had to remove the wheel and hit it with my trusty brown royal wheel cleaner which ate up all of the dust and grime!

Long story short, there are MANY better wheel cleaning options out there. I found Sonax to be an average to slightly above average wheel cleaner at best.

I like Sonax simply because is green lol
Green is my favorite color...
And the fact that it removes iron particle, and turn purple amuses me...
But bottom line is it is a pricey wheel cleaner, unless u plan on buying the BIG JUG... and the JUGS are best to be bought with at least 2... or else 100$ each is not worth it....

But when 80$ each, i believe it's affordable if u were to compare to CG Diablo.

And yes it's liquid and dont cling on the wheel... plenty of product will be wasted

I read so many people raving about it before I ordered some, that when I didn't see awesome results with it I assumed it was how I was using it. The sprayer on the bottle oonly.worked for a few sprays, and it did very little to help me cope with the amount of brake dust my car generates. The p21s has been much better for me for sure. I am glad this post was here, or I would have kept wondering what factors made it so ineffective. The bug spray scent it puts off is less than awesome as well!

I also like the Sonax alright, but it's not the quite what it's hyped up to be

If you spray the Sonax on a cool, dry wheel and let dwell for a full 5 minutes...IMO nothing compares. But then again, like I've always said on the other forums, ANY wheel cleaner is affective when agitated with a decent wheel brush.

The only time Sonax is brought down to a decent prices is when you catch a sale on the 2/$159.99 5L's. If you catch it on a good 20% off sale with free shipping, it works out to about $6.50 a bottle...as opposed to the $15 average that the individual bottles are sold for. Much more affordable.
