I have long residue streaks on my windows. They look like long water spots. I think they may have been caused by APC when I was prepping the car for an opti coat application. I live in the desert and it was sunny and hot when washing. Anyone have any idea on how to remove them? I've tried clay barring, vinegar solution, and sprayway and invisible glass with a lot of elbow grease with no luck. Thanks in advance.

Try using a polish to remove it. If you have a machine it will make it very easy.

Spray the glass with glass cleaner, then rub it with the finest grade of steel wool you can find, works every time.

Works as well. Although, you risk leaving behind marring and very light swirls in the glass.

Pick a test spot and try more APC to "loosen things up a bit", then go to town with some glass cleaner. After 1-2 passes of glass cleaner you can compare the test spot to the rest of the window. Decide to move forward with pass #3 or another technique, possibly more aggressive like 0000 steel wool or glass polish. The latter techniques are valid only if you believe the APC is "etched" into the glass.

Unless you use extreme pressure 0000 steel wool is not going to scratch the glass.

I am pretty sure some vineyard would do the job for you.

Thanks for the replies. I have tried some more APC, then glass cleaners and this didn't appear to do anything. I don't have a polisher, so any recommendations on what product to use by hand application? I have seen steel wool mentioned a lot with both good and bad results so am hesitant to try this at this time. Thanks again.

Was in Los Aneles Saturday and was able to stop by the Chemical Guys Warehouse/Store. Very friendly people. I suck at remembering names, but the lady working the store was very nice and very helpful. She set me up with some of the Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover. Tried it out today and it worked like a charm. A bit of the gel on a micro fibre towel and some elbow grease did the trick. A few places a second pass was needed but it came out looking great. Rinsed the windows off and followed up with a clean inside and out with SprayWay glass cleaner and the windows look fantastic.
