Ugh...Inside Windshield is the DEVIL!!!!

The bane of my car cleaning existence is cleaning the inside of the windshield...I have tried everything under the sun to keep from having what I call sun blurs. When I clean them they look perfect, I even spray them twice to insure that I have covered every square inch of the window but then I get out where the sun is shooting straight into the car and there they are...sun blurs. Spots where I obviously didn't do a good enough job and it drives me freaking CRAZY!!! Does anyone have a solution for me.
 
- park can in the shade and allow time to cool
- clean with favorite spray and microfiber cloth
- clean again with favorite spray and microfiber cloth
- clean with microfiber cloth only *no spray*

I will wear black nitrite gloves in all steps to prevent oil from my hands transferring to the glass.

yep
i used to have this problem in the early days too.
I was using too much product and a cloth that wasn't dedicated to windows. For a general clean the first thing i do is the front window (because the cloth is perfectly clean) and then the rear ... then the doors.
Just a normal paint microfibre and a small spritz of cleaner will do the trick, along with a bit of technique.

:updated: and as the guy above said ... needs to be in a shady environment
 
I use Meguiars Window cleaner and the Cobra Window Microfibers...I do exactly the steps you listed Pixel
 
what cleaner are you washing your microfibers with?

might be something left in them *if using used cloths* when cleaning the windows.

nope, I use Pinnacle Microfiber wash with no fabric softener in wash or dryer...it's not anything wrong with the towels...I've used brand new ones too
 
I use Meguiar's Glass Cleaner diluted as directed, I think it's 1 part cleaner to 10 parts "distilled water"

  1. Meguiar's Glass Cleaner diluted as directed, I think it's 1 part cleaner to 10 parts "distilled water"
  2. Cobra Waffle Weave Microfiber Glass Towel
    1. One to wash and the other to dry
  3. Washing tool to get into the corners..

Wash when the glass is cool to the touch. Spray as directed but not so much as to soak the entire glass. Clean with one towel and dry with the other. It's also important that you do not use soiled towels otherwise you'll dissolve and redeposit grime back on the glass.
 
If the windows are not very dirty I ilke to use very hot water with a smooth microfiber and/or a waffle weave microfiber. Using 2 towels, one wet and one dry, I'll go over the windows ar least twice. For some reason just using water on a fairly clean window will not leave any streaks and the hot towel cleans very well. You must keep up with the windshield cleaning because dashes are constantly out-gasing.

I found the need to use this on a few vehicles, and it does come in handy when the windscreen is long and the dash is high. 1 car per wash on the microfiber bonnet, so it's used selectively.

For glass cleaner i'm using Diamondite® Perfect Vision Glass Cleaner Pump cleans auto glass windshields and windows without streaks! Clean car glass with Diamondite glass and in most cases have been spraying the cloth and not the glass. The times i've noticed the extra streaks in the next few days after cleaning, a wipe down with a dry microfiber will clean things and it wont return until I wash the windows again.

I've been thinking about this some more, and I believe it has to do with humidity showing flaws. I hope Mike or another full-time detailer will chime in here.
Did a search for threads started by Mike with "glass" in the title, but none appear as a basic/best how to for glass cleaning.

A though comes to mind of maybe increasing the humidity on the glass surface with a bit of steam before calling the windows complete. Just a thought.

Also see several say the best results are achieved on glass with a waffle weave micro fiber towel.

I also use this tool and really like it. I attach a small painters extension pole to the threaded end and clean the rear glass while standing outside of the vehicle so I don't have to crawl into the backseat of my Mustang.

No wonder!! :eek: I'm not using "All" the right techniques to clean the inside of my windshield.... I knew I was missing something.....:bowdown:
 
I had that problem a lot when I used Meg's. Try switching glass cleaners. Sonax has really good window cleaner here on ag. Give that a try.
 
When all other interior-windshield cleaning tools fail to "reach" all nooks and crannies...

I use a long, thin-handled spatula with a dedicated glass-cleaning waffle-weave microfiber towel/surgical huck towel, containing my glass-cleaner product...

You can get 100 different answers or suggestions on best cleaner, best towel, best tool for,etc...

My opinion lies in the contaminated area. Towel or glass.
I'm leaning towards vinyl fog. My two cents.
