Ugh...Inside Windshield is the DEVIL!!!!

Mike or any moderator, when I try to access the link on "best temperature ranges" I get this message:

I too receive the same lack of permission message so there's something that's not quite right...

The way I go about is apply product directly to windshield. "Box out the windshield" by going around the perimeter. Then "fill it in" using up and down passes across the entire windshield. Flip towel to dry side and buff from side to side Starting at the top and finishing in the bottom left corner.

This helps to get all the lint in the bottom left corner. Also, I'd you notice any stubborn smears or haze use a clean dry cloth to buff them out.

Thanks Bobby. Hopefully it will be fixed because it is a very fascinating and important subject.

The reason why you can't get to the article is because there are two articles, one in the "Rough Draft" forum group which is hidden and one in the "Hot Topics" forum group.

When I did a search to get the blue clickable link I accidentally snagged the link to the one in the rough draft forum, not the one in the public forum. I fixed the link in my original post and here it is again...

What temperature ranges are best for applying compounds, polishes, waxes and paint sealants

Now I'll go delete the rough draft version as it is no longer needed since the final version was made public.

Reason for everything...

:)

well i always start the car up and switch on the air cond and let it cool the interior up good. it should be cool inside. then i'll use a damp mf or meguiars glass cleaner whichever way it's fine. then wipe the inside windscreen. the cool interior will just flash off the water or glass cleaner. end result streak free clarity everytime w/o fail. i've being doing so for many years now. hope it helps. :)

I do the same process. One thing I've learned is they you don't have to soak a window with cleaner. A mild mist is usually more than Adequate. Even on kid finger dog nose windows. Use a single microfiber to clean and do your scrubbing. Then buff with newspaper. Steak and lint free. And a quick blast of air from your blower or air compressor tool and your good.

From this thread, here's a few tips...

Glass Master Pro Glass Cleaner with Janna

Have lots of clean glass towels on hand for the project

Most my life when I watch people cleaning glass, especially inside of a car, I see one, maybe two towels of some type, terry cloth, microfiber, specialty glass towels, and yes... newspaper or paper towels...

Whatever you you choose to use... be sure to have plenty on hand and here's why...

When trying to remove any kind of vinyl fog, smudges, smoke film, fingerprints or any kind of gunk off glass, the goal is to remove whatever it is you're trying to clean off the glass and more important, not re-introduce the removed gunk back onto the glass.

Make sense?

If you're only using one or two towels, then chances are good you're going to run into streaking problems because if you take a towel with some type of gunk on it removed from one window and wipe a new window with the same towel, you're going to be fighting yourself because at the same time you're trying to remove gunk you're re-introducing it to the glass. This causes streaks and smears.

Here's a tip...
Once you wipe one window down, or a portion of a large window and you've successfully transfered the majority of any films, fingerprints, smudges or gunk off the glass and onto the towel... quit using that towel. Send it to the laundry bin.

For your final wipe, switch to a completely clean, untainted towel and you'll find it faster and easier to leave a streak-free, crystal clear finish.

When it comes to cleaning glass and avoiding the frustration of fighting streaks and smears, more clean dry towels is better... much better.

Then after you've done as good a job as possible working by hand, come back with the Glass Master and remove any leftover smears and streaks by only misting a SMALL amount of glass cleaner onto the microfiber bonnet and then go after the corners or the sections of glass closest to the dash where the extreme angle prevents you from getting your hands or even fingers all the way to the edge of the glass and make your final wipe.

The wrong way to use the Glass Master
Most people don't know the right technique for using a Glass Master to clean the glass on the inside of there car's windows.

My guess is most people will spray too much glass cleaner onto the glass or onto the microfiber bonnet because that's what comes natural to people.

The problem is getting the glass or the bonnet too wet with glass cleaner means there's no dry portions of the microfiber bonnet to absorb the mixture of glass cleaner and whatever gunk or film is on the glass off the glass.

Make sense?

A wet towel won't dry a surface very well, there's only so much moisture the microfiber bonnet can absorb before all you're doing is smearing around a mess on the glass.

What happens is you end up fighting yourself and becoming frustrated.

Remedy
Remove the majority of any films on the glass first by hand and then use the Glass Master to put the icing on the cake...
