So I don't know if anyone will care, but I thought this was super cool. My day job has a building that is very tall, and right in line with the flight path to Dulles Airport (figure out why ;) )

anyway we all went up there today to find out if we could see the shuttle flying by.
Here is the link to the video on my facebook page

And hear are a few cell phone pics we took. Hi res pics to come...

Thanks for looking. This was one of the coolest things I have actually seen in a long time. Made the hair on my neck stand up.

Pretty cool. That orbiter looks terrible, I guess it's due for a paint job once it gets over to Upsy Daisy or whatever that place is called.

according to the news this morning they are going to leave it just as it landed for its final mission. They did say it was all taken apart, cleaned and reassembled before being shipped off. If you've never been to the museum at Dulles Airport you need to go. The place is over the top. They are going to replace the trainer shuttle they have there now with this one and the trainer IIRC going to NY.

I guess it's just scorched on the sides, then. Yeah, lot of safing/inerting needed to be done, plus they pulled the engines to use for something else.

Udvar Hazy, and yes it is an awesome place!

Yeah, Upsy Daisy--that's what I meant...or something. Too bad that guy doesn't have an easier to remember name.

Great share. You definitely got to see a piece of history today!

Ya'll be sure to come down to Orlando and Disney World. You can ride on Space Mountain and witness first hand what remains of the American space program. Do I sound a bit jaded? Crying shame what has become of NASA.

Thanks guys! It was amazing! Here are a few more high quality pics.
