The most over-rated products?

My vote goes towards Aquawax. It reminds me of a quick detailer from 5 years ago. It adds no slickness at all, which is something most of us like to feel after using a product like that.

I don't know why everybody thinks its amazing. Primo Hydro, CG V7, Meg's Ultimate Spray Wax, Optimum Spray Wax, and Zymol Field Glaze with Carnuba are ones I own that are all better (with protection). AW actually was a little grabby for me. It may be cheap, but IMHO that's all it has going for it.

Another product I think may be overrated is Opticoat, but that's a whole other story.

First time I heard something bad about Aquawax. I have never had any problems with it. I know with all the different spray waxes and quick detailers the results you get a from the users application technique. I at first had trouble with XMT 360 Spray Wax, but if you practice and adjust your technique you get better results.

It's not that it's "bad", it's just over rated. I think there are other products (listed above) that are just much better in this segment (quick detailer with protection). I have it and will finish the bottle, but won't repurchase it. I think Hydro and V7 are much better. However, I do love the smell of AW. Smells to me like Grand Marnier.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 turned my super white car to a darken ivory with one application. Over priced and a under performer.
Wife was not happy.

That actually seems like a pretty desirable trait, if the product were used on a darker car.

I wanna hear the opti-coat story! Is there a link to a thread?

I would say Cobra micro fibers: considering the price

PC7424XP polisher kit with CCS 6.5" (lack of power to spin the 6.5"pads)working better when using 5.5" pads but not impressive at all. Go with the Flex 3401 and keep your elbow gease for others jobs.
Johny,

After today- Wolfgang Trim Sealant. $20 for 4oz is an absolute rip off. Never again. Klasse goes on just as easily. I am hoping longevity is the clutch here and I end up regretting this remark. I have some Jeep Wrangler fender flares testing it right now.

I can't imagine why AW would be considered overrated. To me, it's the best QD at any price point. Maybe it has something to do with paint types or what's under it. I love it.

I use Aqua Wax as a drying aid every time, great to avoid water spots.

Will try Hydro Wax next.

Longevity has been clutch for me with it, as I thought it was a rip off at first too. I usually see about 2-3months out of it on my truck, which is outside 24/7. Beads water just like a paint sealant. A little of it goes a long way as well. I have two 4oz bottles and have only used about half of the first one in the past year or so.

Give Prima Hydro or CGs V7 a try and see if you still feel the same way. I'm not saying its bad, just not a class leader.

I hope you are right. I could use the hell out of this stuff as the Jeep has those big fender flares and the new Outback has about an acre of plastic cladding. I can agree on only using a little. I barely dented the bottle today. Time will tell.

I have V7 and use it in the garage as a spray sealant. But at car shows in the sun, it is terrible as a QD. AW wins big time in that situation (sun, hot paint, knock off dust, no streaks on black).

Having just tried the Prima line with Amigo and was happy, I'll look into the Hydro.

Thanks for the tip!

Joe

Ok. I only use those products right after a wash. Not in the sun or as a cleaner. For cleaning anything I use UWW+

carpro or whatever paint cleaner, works just like ipa seems less potent way over priced, something like 1000x more expensive than the IPA mixture I was using

I was thoroughly disappointed with cg's silk shine, didn't go far, didn't like the overly glossy look, streaked on some trim

jetseal, it's a good product, but i'd say its a 20 dollar sealant.. not 40

microfiber towels, they can be had for a reasonable price (if you look around) and you don't have to pay an arm and leg for them...

Migliore Brilliant Trim Protectant.......wow, what a disappointment at $13.00 bottle......but we live and learn
