So you think your steamer is pretty good eh?? lets kung foo!!!

didn't read all of this thread - but I'm a VX5000 user and disagree with some of the above info

the VX does have a hot water injection feature. There are 3 buttons on the unit, one to boil, one to steam, and one for hot water injection

also, I routinely remove vinyl / tint / stickets with the VX5000. No hot water injection just steam and plastic razor blades

Regarding the argument between steam vs. extractor I will acknowledge that steam just does not do as good a job on nasty carpets / upholestry. However, it does a pretty damn good job, dries faster, and the steamer can be used for many more things. If I had a shop, I'd have both. Being that I'm mobile, its steam only.

To the original poster - the glaring difference between the 2 units seems to be the option to do continuous fill. You need to decide how often you will kill a full tank and need to refill.

I personally make a point to top off my steamer from time to time in between use and I never seem to have an issue with running out of water.

BTW - big tip if you're mobile with a steam cleaner. pre heat at home. takes way less time and less power to heat up at the jobsite if its reached full operating temp a couple hours earlier.

Thanks mate, I know whoever said it doesn't have hot water injection correctedthemself. I really appreciTe your input. Seems like everyone has the VX and I too will have one. If its doing what needs to be done for detailers, then I'm sure it will work for me

If risky could let me know if he has the diamer unit then I can figure out which one for sure lol

I do not think you'll be dissapointed. the few degrees in pressure really is negligble IMO. There are also ways of tweaking the VX to put out more power but I've never needed it.

if you were doing big time jobs requiring steam for long periods of time I'd say go with the continous fill unit. but more than likely the VX will suit your needs.

I love it for stuff around the house which you mentioned also.

good luck

I'm also another VX5000 user. My purchase was kind of impulse, and it's sat around much longer than I really wanted it to. However, when I do use it, it does an amazing job.

I had listed it on eBay, but apparently no one wanted it. So, I'll just keep it around and use it whenever I need it. I never used any of the other models, so I can't compare it to those. Just another happy VX5000 user!

LOL that stinks no one wanted to buy it. What do you use it for? I know what you mean about impulse buying. I have the problem of researching WAY TOO MUCH.

I had put it up on eBay because I was going to try and get a little bit of money for when I move across the state to attend school. If it didn't sell (and it didn't), I planned on keeping it around. And the way things are going with my car now, I may not be going to school over summer.

But, I've used it to clean the interior of 3 cars so far. When I bought it, I had the intention of cleaning a few more cars than what I have. I've just been so busy trying to get other things in my life figured out, I haven't had time to really work on the detail side of things.

I did research this steamer for a bit before purchasing it, but there wasn't a ton of info out there. Just the little bit I found here, and that was enough to convince me to buy it.

After using it today to clean my grandma's car, I remembered how awesome this thing was! She got a good laugh when I told her I had used a commercial grade steam cleaner. She said "I knew it was bad..." and it was disgusting! But it pulled stains and some other nasty crap out of that interior.

How long ago did you try to sell it on eBay?

Awe man I looked on Ebay yesterday just to see if there were any lol and didn't see anything. How much were you looking for it?

I had it start at $600 with a $675 buy it now...with free shipping.

I don't have a steamer yet but I've been looking at them for a while. Comparing the VX5000 to the Diamer you're getting 10 more PSI from the unit. Which I'm told is a pretty big difference when it comes down to it. There is a group buy on the Diamer over on L2D....which is basically just an extension of the sale (25% off) but they are throwing in 10 free brushes.

From what I read, I guess you can turn up the PSI on the VX to about 80. I found out that the Diamer does NOT have "hot injection". I'm not totally sure how important that is, but for less money and basically the same specks, I went with the VX5000.

Who knows, I'll find out on Monday how the VX works, but a lot of people have them and they are happy so I figured what the heck. And the satisfaction gaurentee is nice. They are the ONLY company to offer that. Diamer would charge around $180 just to return it.

That was a huge factor in which one to buy/

Thanks for getting back to me Rasky!

If you have any questions about the use of the vx5000 feel free to give me a call man..... Im pretty sure we have maximized its potential through daily use for almost 2 years :dblthumb2:

They have an awesome deal on a scratch and dent unit... unless they already sold it from earlier. It was like $595 or something like that vs $1095.

Thing though that company has a no return policy on any of their units. You buy it, its yours. I want the ability to try out the unit and make sure its what I want, especially for that kind of $$
